Workshop 3

 On my subject (English), I have a program called, “Communication for All”, where all students are
encouraged to speak and communicate with one another, regardless of what language they
prefer to use. A little ironic for an English teacher, some may question the integrity of how the
students may learn the language. However, this program was focused on a longer-lasting effect
of the subject on the students. I have been in the service for almost a decade, 9 years to be
exact, and what I have noticed is that a lot of students are afraid to use the language not
because they do not know how to use it. Rather, they are anxious that society might judge their
grammar. Sadly, this is an open secret to us all English teachers. I am also guilty of this trauma
experienced by many students. Because instead of encouraging them to speak, we forcefully
asked them to use the language. They were obligated to speak in English at all times during the
period. Forgetting the essence of the language: to communicate.

 As a soon-to-be leader, my agenda is to give confidence to every stakeholder of the institution in

doing what they think would help to improve the learning process of the students. Also, I would
like to be an inclusive leader, catering to the needs of everyone as much as I can.

 As a teacher, I can say that I did, but as an administrator, only the future will tell.
