Course/Batch No.

CARGO PLANNING (CRUDE OIL)

Objectives:
1. Do cargo calculation.
2. Familiarize working on a vessel’s loadicator.
3. Do cargo stowage planning with draft restrictions (Trainees need to enter on their loadicator all
provided non cargo weights).
4. Appreciate the importance of determining shear force and bending moments.

CRUDE OIL
CARGO BARROW ISLAND ARABIAN LIGHT
To Load 27,900 MT (+/- 5%) 53,500 MT (+/- 5%)
Density at 15°C 0.8556 0.8811
Temperature 40.2 °C 43.5 °C

ANSWER
CARGO BARROW ISLAND ARABIAN LIGHT
27900 MT 53500 MT

33361.2 M3 54737.06 M3

27901.05 MT = +5% 56175 MT = +5%

35029.26 M3 = +5% 57473.9 M3 = +5%
VCF (54A) 0.9787 0.9774
WCF 0.8545 0.8800
Density of Cargo .8363 0.8601

Requirements:
1. Determine if vessel can load the two (2) crude oil at 98% capacity.
2. Advice Loadable Quantity and Cargo Distribution (Stowage Plan).
3. NO cargo to be load on slop tanks.
4. Fill-up all details required on the stowage plan (Draft Limitation : 12.30m Even Keel, ballast
onboard if need ONLY to compensate TRIM/LIST).
5. SF/BM no more than 70%.
