A: Hello?
B: Oh…hello. I’m calling about the used books you’re selling.
A: Sure. Which ones do you want?
B: Well, I need the books for Economics 101. How much are those?
A: Uh…those are $120.
B: Wow! That’s a little expensive. How many are there?
A: It’s a full set. There are four books.
B: OK. Umm…will you take $90?
A: Well...I... I can give them to you for $105. How’s that?
B: Thanks. That’s great. Where’s your place? I’ll come and pick them up.
A: I live in Craig Hall. It’s right across from the library. Room 222.
B: Great. I’m really close. See you in a few minutes.
Do you like shopping? Many people all over the world love shopping. The Ginza in Tokyo,
Japan, the Champs Elysées in Paris, France, and Singapore’s Orchard Road are some of the
most popular and most expensive shopping streets in the world. Shops on these streets have
to pay very expensive rents. However, New York City’s Fifth Avenue is the most expensive
shopping street in the world. Just how much does it cost to rent one foot of space on Fifth
Avenue? It costs more than two thousand dollars for every square foot per year.
