There are two basic car construction including unibody and body- on- frame.

Firstly, about weight, unibody is lighter than body-on- fame since weight and
stress can be distributed over the entire body. Body-on-frame construction is
heavier than unibody construction. Therefore, the frame must be built off much
stronger and heavier materials, such as steel to support the entire weight of the
body. The secondly, about manufacturing cost, unibody is more expensive to repair
than body- on- frame in case of accident, due to advanced chassis technology,
expensive components and the complete structure makes repairs more complex.
Next, about fuel economy, unibody construction provides better fuel economy,
because it cuts significant weight out of the vehicle. About body- on- frame uses
more fuel, because body-on- fame construction adds weight, which diminishes fuel
economy. Finally, I want to talk about towing and off-road capacity. Body- on-
frame vehicles have greater towing and off- road capacity than unibody ones. As
the primary benefit of this type of construction is resistance to torque and twisting
compared to unibody vehicles.
