CONDITIONS OF ENROLMENT
Despite any publication or announcement, the University may
change or cancel arrangements for courses or units of study,
including in respect of staffing, content or location. The
University will use reasonable endeavours to update the
timetable with respect to any cancellation or change. The
University will not be liable to any student for any
consequential loss suffered as a result of cancellation or
change, including travel or other costs incurred.

ATTENDANCE PATTERN
A master’s degree comprises 48 credit points and 24 credit
points for a graduate diploma. Units of study are weighted 6
credit points unless specified otherwise. Part-time students
may enrol in up to 12 credit points per semester. Full-time
students must enrol in at least 18cp but no more than 24
credit points per semester (student visa holders must enrol in
24 credit points per semester). A student is expected to enrol
in units of study with a total value of no more than 24 credit
points per semester. A student should seek advice from the
Associate Dean (E: law.postgraduate@sydney.edu.au) before
enrolling in more than 24 credit points per semester.
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS
Students who are not formally enrolled in a unit of study are
NOT permitted to attend classes or access reading materials in
Canvas. Students must attend at least 70% of classes in order
to satisfy the class attendance requirement. For intensive
units, participation in all scheduled sessions is essential.
Exemption may only be considered by the Unit Coordinator
upon satisfactory documentary evidence of compelling
grounds i.e. serious illness, injury or misadventure which occur
during an intensive unit. Students with an unsatisfactory

attendance record may be refused permission to undertake
the unit. Your class participation and learning activities cannot
be replaced by lecture recordings.
INTENSIVE UNITS OF STUDY
Timetable Clashes and Late Enrolment
Students must NOT enrol into intensive units of study with
conflicting class dates and/or enrol after the start of classes
(refer to “Attendance Requirements”). If you have a timetable
clash, you must select an alternative unit. Students are
responsible for checking the class dates on this timetable
before completing their enrolment in Sydney Student. Class
absences including the misreading of the timetable will result
in unsatisfactory attendance. An “Absent Fail” will be graded
and a full fee liability will remain.
Assessment Due Dates
The final assessment of an intensive unit may be submitted
between 4 and 6 weeks after the last day of class. All students,
particularly student visa holders, please factor in assessment
due dates in their study plan. Unit Outlines contain
assessment due dates which are normally published in Canvas
approximately 2 weeks before the first class.
Grade Release Date
All official grades, including early intensive units, will be
published in Sydney Student at the end of the semester in
which the unit is held. Please see Guides to Grades. The grade
release date of late intensive units will vary depending on the
final assessment due date. Your unit coordinator will inform
you of the date via Canvas announcement after the start of
classes.
Student Visa Holders
Some intensive units take place before the start or after the
last day of a standard semester. Student visa holders cannot
enrol into units which start prior to the commencement of
their course. Please check your offer/recommencing letter to
ensure your eCoE and visa covers the intensive teaching

ENROLMENT AFTER THE LAST DAY TO ADD
It is not feasible to add a unit in Sydney Student after the last
day to add (see below). To enrol in a unit of study after the
enrolment deadline, please submit an Enrolment Exception
Request in Sydney Student well in advance of the first class.
The request will be processed by Faculty Services. Students
must NOT enrol in an intensive unit after the commencement
of classes. Please refer to “Attendance Requirements”.
LAST DAY TO WITHDRAW FROM A UNIT OF STUDY
100% tuition fee liability or FEE-HELP debt will be incurred
after the relevant withdrawal census date below. No refund is
payable for withdrawal requests received subsequent to these
dates. Sydney Law School requests students intending to
withdraw from an intensive unit of study to do so no later
than the close of business on the first day of classes.
