Course Overview: This course is designed to improve students' reading skills and foster an
understanding of literary analysis. Throughout the course, students will explore a variety of
short stories, identify main ideas, draw conclusions, make inferences, examine cause and effect
relationships, analyze character development and motivation, recognize themes and
symbolism, summarize effectively, and engage in critical analysis. The course culminates with
individual final projects and presentations, allowing students to showcase their acquired skills.

8. Choose, research, and present a final project based on a selected story.

Student Learning Objectives:


By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1. Greet and bid farewell to others in German.
2. Introduce themselves and provide personal information, including name, age, and
nationality.
3. Ask and answer questions about a person's identity and background.
4. Introduce family and friends to others.
5. Spell names and words in German.
6. Use common everyday phrases for various situations.
7. Discuss countries, languages, and nationalities.
8. Talk about their hobbies and interests.
9. React appropriately in conversations, expressing agreement, disagreement, and more.
10. Conjugate common verbs in the present tense.
11. Utilize personal pronouns effectively in sentences.
12. Construct basic sentences following correct word order.
13. Understand sentence melody and intonation in German.
14. Pronounce challenging consonant combinations, such as "sch" and "sp."
15. Read and comprehend short texts in German.
