and Suction Housing Gasket

This is to revise and replace Field Campaign 0333 dated 06Feb2004. This
revision announces that parts have been added to accomodate QSK45
engines that may require the installation of a 4–bolt connector (part
numbers 4066818, 3089016, 3089563, 3920447), and the following three
ESNs were added to the eligibility list: 33152396, 33152440, 33152436.
If additional information is required, contact your Cummins Warranty
Operations Team Leader.

DESCRIPTION: This Campaign is to address a design issue with the lube

pump suction housing bolts, which are losing preload due to gasket
relaxation and inadequate capscrew length. Bolts have backed out after
preload has been lost creating a situation of low engine oil pressure
due to aeration of the oil.
On multiple Aggreko units it was also determined that engines prior to
ESN 33147532 did not have the correct silchrome oil pressure regulator
spring installed in the pump. This Campaign will direct the
installation of the correct spring during the lube pump adapter gasket
inspection and replacement as necessary.

ACTION:
In order to qualify for repair under this Campaign, an engine:
1. will be covered regardless of warranty status, AND
2. must be a QSK45 or QSK60 engine in an Aggreko Power Gen
application, AND
3. must be identified in the ESN listing found in Attachment A, AND
4. data plate must not be stamped 0333.
After verifying the engine meets the above criteria, complete the
following.
1. Remove and inspect oil pump regulator spring. The music wire spring
will have 16 convolutes and be of a silvery color, the silchrome
good spring will have 15 convolutes and be of a golden color. Use
procedure 007–031 as outlined in the QSK45 and QSK60 Shop Manual,
Bulletin 4021373.
2. Inspect the lube pump suction tube adapter gasket joint. If the
joint shows signs of relaxation, i.e., any bolts are finger tight,
the gasket is missing or damaged, then remove and replace the
gasket, apply loctite to the bolts and retorque them to 54 N•m [40
ft-lb]. Use procedure 007–031 as outlined in the QSk45 and QSK60

Shop Manual, Bulletin 4021373.

3. If the joint does not show signs of relaxation, i.e., bolts are
tight, gasket is not damaged or missing, remove each bolt one by
one in a star pattern, apply loctite, and retorque the joint to 54
N•m [40 ft-lb].
4. Stamp the engine data plate 0333 to show completion of this
Campaign.

MATERIAL DISPOSITION: Material removed must be scrapped.
