    POE Oil Requirements for Use with


    HFC refrigerants in Medium Screw Compressors

    PRODUCTS:
    Medium Screw Compressors (102mm, 110mm & 127mm)

    BACKGROUND:
    As a result of new information from research and testing HCI announces the following revisions
    to oil lubrication requirements when using the Medium Screw Compressor (MSC).

    ACTION:
    Effective immediately:
    • 220 ISO POE oil will now be used as the lubricant for medium screw compressor
    applications using HFC refrigerants. (0°F to 50°F SST)
    • 120 ISO POE oil will now be used as the lubricant for medium screw compressor
    applications using HFC refrigerants. (-50°F to 0°F SST)
    Please see revised Service Bulletin SB-24.

    REASON:
    HCI has discovered from testing and research new information regarding previously accepted
    HVAC/R industry lubrication requirements.
    220 ISO POE oil has been determined to have excellent wear characteristics in commercial and
    high temperature applications when using HFC refrigerants.
    120 ISO POE oil has been determined to have excellent wear characteristics in low
    temperature applications when using HFC refrigerants.
