 Zoonotic Disease
Zoonotic diseases are infectious diseases that can be transmitted between animals and
humans. These diseases can be caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites, or fungi that can spread
from animals to humans, or vice versa. Transmission of these diseases can occur through various
means, including direct contact with animals, consumption of contaminated animal products, or
vectors such as mosquitoes or ticks.
Some zoonoses can be transmitted directly from one animal to another through physical
contact, such as bites, touching, or contact with infected body fluids. An example is rabies,
which can be transmitted through bites from infected animals. Rabies is a zoonotic disease with a
high fatality rate if not treated promptly. It is caused by a virus and is transmitted through the
saliva of infected animals.
For the treatment of zoonotic diseases, it requires the supervision of animal health as well
as vaccination and treatment programs, which are crucial aspects in preventing and controlling
zoonotic diseases. This is particularly important in the livestock and animal industry sector.
