Comic Dialogue
The comedic devices I have chosen are slapstick, idioms and puns.
Dominic enters the room stumbling and says
Dominic: “Dear Katlyn I have a deep new found love for yours. I hope you
feel the same for me.”
Katlyn: Katlyn replies “What do you mean, you have a new found love for
me. I have never even spoken to you.”
Dominic: “Yes you have. I work at the restaurant down the road, as a
waitress”
Katlyn: “ O yes I am over the moon with the food there, but how do you
know my name and what is your name.”
Dominic:“ I overheard your name when I was serving you and my name is
Dominic. I vividly remember you ordered eggs on toast. Would you like to
take a seat, Katlyn.”
Katlyn: “ How eggcellent you remember what I ordered and yes I would like
to take a seat.”
Dominic while walking over there trips over the rock on the ground and face
plants his head into the mud.
Katlyn: “ O no Dominic, would you like me to get you a towel”
Dominic: “That would be very nice thanks” As Katlyn runs back with the
towel Dominic says “throw it, throw it” and so she does but then Dominic
fumbles it into the mud and laughs along with Katlyn.
Dominic: “Its fine don’t get me another towel I will use the none dirty side “
Katlyn: “Would you like to go get some dinner with me”
Dominic: “Of course I would. I would be as happy as Larry.”
Katlyn: “these last ten minutes have been very fun, even though I have only
known you for ten minutes”
Dominic: “ Yes they have. Would like to go get some food now”
Katlyn: “ No problem.”
Dominic” After you.”
But as Dominic gets up to start walking to the restaurant he falls and ruins
he’s shirt even more.
Katlyn: “Maybe we should rearrange, to a day where your shirt is not full of
mud”
And then they both laughed and walked off into the distance.
Katlyn and Dominic both meet up and go to a very old themed restaurant.
Katlyn has arrived slightly early and ordered a drink. Then Dominic arrives a
bit late a sits down at the table.
Dominic: “Valorous evening mine own lief”
Katlyn:” I don't understand”
Dominic: “O it means good evening my dear, it Shakespearean language.”
Katlyn: “How lovely thee putteth so much effort into thy holla.”
Dominic and Katlyn: Haha
Waiter:” Good Evening. What may I get you to drink?”
Dominic: “Just some wine for the both of use please”
As the waiter returns and puts the wine down on the table Dominic throws
he’s hands up in the air of excitement and knocks the wine all over the waiter
and his self.
Dominic:” I just dogged a bullet imagine if that had spilt on your white dress.
You would have bitten someone’s head off.”
Katlyn: “Well you know what would have happened and no one would have
been happy about it not even me.”

Wide Reading
Context of the Writing
The author of my text the 13th reality journal of curious letters is James
Dashner. The book was published in 2008. There are no significant
contextual factors that could let us understand the book better.

Context of the Text

The genre of the text is science fiction and fantasy fiction. Atticus "Tick"
Higginbottom is your common 13-year-old, till he receives a mysterious letter
from Alaska, signed 'M.G'. This marks the start of a deadly and
crazy adventure where Tick is reintroduced to the sector like he in no
way knew it. Accompanied through new pals while trying to steer clear
of frightful enemies, he units off on a life-threatening adventure through the
Realities—change worlds created every time a desire is made—
to discover secrets and solve missions. Some of the important characters in
the book are Atticus, Master George, Mistress Jane and Mothball. The
quality of writing is very good in the book. The book is engaging because it
shows new creative ideas.

Context of the Reading

One of the messages in the book is don’t do something you don’t have the
full information. This happens when Atticus signs a letter that was given to
him through the mail box. This lesson is important to the reader because it
makes them aware that, you have to make sure you know fully what you are
getting into. I would recommend this book to others because it shows very
Coll and funny themes and ideas.

Malala Questions
1. I think Malala has given a very detailed background of her life before
2012 because she shows us where she lived and how anyone from a
town like her can make an impact in the world. I think she also goes
into detail about her life before 2012 because she shows us how she
started as an activist for woman rights and how she has created a
powerful opinion. They also focus on her life before 2012 because of
how her father created a school for girls, allowing Malala to get an
education which has led to her achieving many great things for herself
and humanity. I think she gives us a lot of background information
because everything her parents did for her has let her achieve hat she
has today and she is very thankful for that, so that’s why she is has a
lot of information about them in the book. She focused on her early
years growing up in the swot because that is where her father started
the school for girls meaning everyone in the area including her could
get and education something in Pakistan back then was not very
thought of. Also, the education her father gave her created her
argument and point she was trying to get across about woman rights
and education in Pakistan.
2. From part one we learn that the people in the swat a very friendly and
caring about each other. Also, people are very scared because of
attacks that the town had come into. They learn that everybody is
happy with there culture and religion and always celebrate it. Back in
2012, the swat was under the Taliban. A lot of people in the region of
the swat fight for similar things like girls rights to education but this is
one of the reasons why the Taliban tired to control this city. They tried
to control the city because it was flooded with many opinions against
the Taliban but the Taliban does not want to lose power so they have
to restrict people to what they can and can't do. The landscape of the
city is very beautiful because there is massive valley right through it
and it is at the foot of a mountain which every winter it snows and has
made for a ski resort which the residents were very happy about. It is
a beautiful city on the up with new buildings on nearly every block.
This wonderful evolution for the swat has brought the city back
together after some terrible events evolving the Taliban trying to bring
the people of the swat down.
3. From part one of the book, we learn that Malala and her family are
against the Taliban and the idea of it but when it took over the swat
they had no option. Her father believed that everybody should have an
education so he opened a school for girls and boys. We also learn
about why Malala’s father decided to open schools for girls. Her father
is a very nice genuine person wanting to step up and do the right thing
for woman’s rights. He got the values to form when he was younger
because he saw how the patriarchy at the time had split his family into
two parts when all he wanted for him and his family is to be all equal.
We learn the deeper reason why Malala’s father had opened the
school for girls and how he created the opinion that everybody should
have a right to education. He did this because he promised to himself
when he becomes a father he will treat all the kids the same way. We
also learn a bit about Malala’s fathers up brining. The fact that her
father has opened the school for her it allowed her to flourish and take
a step in the right direction for woman rights something her father
could not continue because it was from a male perspective but Malala
stayed truthful to her father and her family and did what her father
wanted to do.
4. When growing up Malala had many problems but the most evident
problems at the time are the education for woman and the Taliban. At
the time Malala was growing up getting an education for a woman was
hard. If you were not rich and a woman you would not get an
education end of the story. Her father had to have an attempt to
educate Malala so he opened up a school to resolve the problem but
just as he opened the school the Taliban entered the swat and took
away basic human rights like to watch tv. Everybody was locked down
and you could only do things like go to school but he Taliban did not
want girls going to school so it made it much harder for Malala and
many other girls in this area to get an education. The second problem
is kind of continued from the last point of the Taliban. The Taliban did
not want girls getting an education so it, of course, would have made
it hard for Malala. The Taliban created strict rules for people in the area
and it created a problem for Malala and her dad's school. The Taliban
did not accept anybody going against their will, so if you did you
would have been punished. The Taliban also made it hard for Malala
growing up because they took away many rights form not just her,
from her father and the rest of her family. It was very hard and difficult
for Malala to grow up during this period for these reasons.
5. I think the rule of the Taliban is influential and popular to the people of
Pakistan because they tried to protect Pakistan. The way they tried to
protect them was to keep them under control so the media from
places like the United States and places in Europe did not attack them
for there “involvements” in attacks like 9/11. The Taliban was
introduced to stop major things in Pakistan getting into the world
media. Pakistan did not want to be in the medias eye but whenever
they were it was about certain events that pictured the country in a
bad light, not a good one. All the Taliban was trying to do was to
protect the nation but the way they had to do it turned people against
them. The original idea was great but the way over the years the idea
panned out it caused it to look bad. The shooting of Malala was not
because she was not mainly because she was an activist for woman’s
rights and educations but because what she was doing, was gaining
the worlds attention on Pakistan which the Taliban could not have the
spotlight shone on them. This then gave them a second motive to stop
Malala which was the wrong thing to do because them attempting to
kill a schoolgirl would get them in the media and them letting Malala
do the right thing for the country would get them in the media. They
had no choice because whatever which way it went the spotlight
would have been shone on them.
6. I think continuing the interviews is a good and a bad thing. I think it is
good because she can still fight for what she wants in these interviews
and continue to spread her message. It is also a good thing because
she can pick up more steam by doing interviews because it lets the
world understand what she wants and we make the world a better
place. Continuing the interviews can be a bad thing because it creates
more go a target on her and if she stops doing interviews people like
the Taliban might not go to such extreme’s to stop her.
7. Malala’s passion for education shapes her life in many ways starting
from her childhood. In her childhood, she was not allowed to have an
education because she was a female. When her dad opened the
school she could not be any happier to have an education but when it
got taken away by the Taliban it created a will power inside of her to
push on and start to take action against this. Even today she is still
studying at universities. This shows how much she values having an
education. Her passion for education also shapes her life because she
has to live away from home to go to study at universities. This shows
how she is committed to her education even if she has to make
sacrifices like living away from home. I have a case I care about it is
men’s mental health. I care about this cause because it is neglected in
the media and a lot of people suffer from mental health issues and it
should be more publicly expressed. This shapes my life because I
want to stand up for a cause that deserves to be shown around the
world and deserves to be shown to everybody through the media. In
conclusion, we are all like Malala we have the things that shape us we
just got to find it and pursuit.
8. How I felt when I was reading through the text was very heartfelt. She
stands up and becomes something she wants to be. Even at a very
young age, she understood something, but then something was not
happening. So she did what was right and became an activist for girls
education. Malala found courage in her father. The first reason is that
her father opened up a school for her. I think this gave her courage
because he was doing what was right but Malala wants everyone to
have the luxury that she had so she stood up for it and never looked
back. Malala also found more courage in her father by her father
installing values in her that can not be forgotten. These values
followed her wherever she went. The inspiration her father gave her
had allowed for one of the greatest ever activist to come through the
ranks. Her father also did humanitarian work which she took on bored
into her later life. She also was very inspired form her mother. She is
inspired by her mother because she is very cool calm and collected in
every one situation. She inspired to be just like that because it is
amazing no matter how people can work you up, she could always
stay collected and in reach of her goals. Some other people that
inspired her are Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Benazir Bhutto but these
people are more her role models than anything.
9. Somebody very close to me is my father. My father has mentored me
by leading me in the right direction in life and school. My father is
always caring and loving of me and always try to help me in difficult
situations. One of the situations my father has helped me in was when
I was studying for my mathematics exam. My dad come over to me
and helped me understand what was going on and he was quizzing
me to test my ability at the subject. Every day leading up to the exam
he would help me to understand everything in the test and to attempt
it at a good level. He always tries to make mine and brothers life better
by doing everything in his power to make our lives better. My dad is
also very committed to his work and that inspires me. The fact that he
can get up every day and do his job happily makes me look up to him
and that's why he inspires me to try my hardest and never give up on
trying to achieve my dreams. My dad also inspires me because he can
always provide for me and my family during difficult situations and
that's why I inspire to grow up and be exactly like him.
10. The relationship Malala has with her mother is very unique. It is very
similar to her relationship with her father. Malala’s relationship with her
mum is very good and peaceful, they are both very productive people.
Malala’s mum influences her because she wanted to her to achieve
everything she wanted but due to some circumstances like the Taliban
entering the swat, it restricted Malala to get an education which her
mother wanted her to have. Her mother also had similar opinions to
her regarding, woman’s rights and education and her mother wanted
her to stand up for it and try to make an impact. Malala’s relationship
with her mother is similar to the one with her father is because she
strives for education just like her father. She wants her to secure just
like her father wants her to succeed. Malala’s parents are also similar
because they both believe education for girls in very needed and
because they give their children including Malala the love and
appreciation she deserves. They are also very alike in their
independent spirit. Malala’s independent spirit got her a long way and
its one of the things it made her get through the toughest time of her
life.
11. Don’t Have Anything.
12. During I Am Malala there were a lot of changes to was Malala lived
and grew up. Many events had an impact on the way the environment
around her was created. She had many changes to the way she lived
like the Taliban entering the swat and places like schools in her area
getting attacked and bombed. The way she reacted to these situations
was a very different approach to what happened. She tries to create
peace and harmony among everyone instead of creating the worst
situation. She does not want any harm on anybody and just wants to
create a peaceful world and that's why it is more of a unique approach
to these situations because, if it was up to the government they could
create a new war which in a country like Pakistan is not needed in its
current situation. Her character has changed because of her
soundings by these types of events. Malala’s character was influenced
and changed by these vents because these events changed the way
she lived. These events changed the way Malala grew up and affected
the way she viewed the world. Her surroundings when she was
growing up makes her the person she is today because she does not
want anybody to go through what she did in her childhood and she is
trying to make life better for people in the same or similar positions to
her.
13. Malala wants to return to the swat valley because it is where she grew
up. Malala’s relationship with the swat is very complicated for multiple
reasons. The first reason being that the swat can easily be attacked by
the Taliban. The Taliban has easy access to the area which makes it
hard for Malala to return home without being scared of a second
attack on her. Her role as an activist also makes it harder for her to live
in the swat because it puts a target on her. Some people may disagree
with her and may try to attack or harm her. It is very hard on Malala in
this situation because she would love to return home to her family and
friends and live a happy peaceful life. I do not think Malala should
return to the swat. Even though her family is there I don think she
should return because the Taliban can control her and her life while in
England she can live a harm-free life form the Taliban. Also, Malala
loves her education and in the Swat, there is no opportunity for an
education and considering what the Taliban thinks it would take her to
get one anyways but if she does go back to the swat she can help
teach other kids and give them an education everyone deserves.
There are very mixed reasons but it would be best for Malala to stay in
England.
14. Malala has been in many difficult situations. Malala reacts in a very
unique way. Malala stays calm in difficult situations and tries to work
around the problem instead of making it worst. Some of the problems
she had in Pakistan and the Swat is the Taliban. The Taliban is a
problem because they have different views on the world to Malala and
instead of trying to fix the problem they will try to get rid of the person
“creating” the problem. A prime example being Malala being shot by
the Taliban because they had a disagreement on a couple of subjects
and it nearly got Malala killed for being an activist for the right thing.
The way her peers react when Malala gets in a situation like this is that
they will be scared for her because they do not want what happened
to her previously happen to her again. In situations like these Malala
gets her strength form writing. Malala loves to write and when in
difficult situations she likes to write about them and come up with
ways to combat them. It gives her the strength to continue and fix her
problems. Writing is something that lets her let her thoughts and idea’s
out and gives her strength in that sense.
15. In my life, I have uprooted. When I was in year 5 I moved houses from
Greenacre to San Souci. It was very hard for me to adapt because
when getting to school it will now take me 25 minutes instead of 10
minutes. This is a huge problem for me because I had to start to get
up earlier and change the way I have to live. After all, I need to get up
earlier and go to sleep earlier to make it to school the next morning.
This experience changed my world view because I have never
experienced such big change in my life and when I did it shows me
when people go through change it can affect them and take a toll on
the way they live.

Mode 2
Persuasive Writing
An autobiography is just a personal tale that intrigues and entertains us. Is
this the only purpose for composing an autobiography?

Is an autobiography just a personal tale that intrigues and entertains us, well
I am here to tell you why that statement is false. Let me break this statement
down. An autobiography’s purpose is to entertain and intrigue us just like any
book and movie but every book and movie has a meaning behind why it’s
made and why the author or composer has created it. This brings me to my
first point, autobiographies are made to convey a message and my second
point is the history and insight in these certain people's lives that have
changed the way many people see the world.

Autobiographies are not just for our entertainment, they are made so famous
people or people with a
a very interesting story about themselves, can convey and tell us an
important message. These messages they show us are very important to the
development of humans and how we understand ourselves. Some of these
messages are shown to us in Malala's autobiography. We learn to
understand ourselves more by understanding the events that happened in
Malala's life. It shows us how lucky we are to live in the environment we do,
we understand ourselves better because we understand the lucky position
we are in. In Malala's autobiography, she talks about when she got shot in
the head and she recovered from it and had the courage to go and fight for
the things she believes in. This conveys an important message to us for
multiple reasons. The first reason is that Malala had a lot of courage to go up
onto the stage after she got shot. She had a lot of courage while doing this
because she was still risking her life for what she believed in. The lessons we
take from this is to stand up for what we want and to have the courage to do
anything no matter how big and how small and that's just one reason why
autobiographies are not just for our entertainment and more for our
understating of ourselves.

Autobiographies can show us a piece of history. They can show us how

human nature has evolved over time. We gain an understanding about how
we change and adapt to new circumstances over time. This is shown in
Malala autobiography. This is clearly shown many times but is best shown
after Malala has been shot by the Taliban. After Malala is shot she has to
move out of her home in Pakistan to England for safety and treatment
reasons. This shows how she adapted to the new climate and continued to
fight for want she wants. This is a piece of history because it shows us how
a very good person could almost getting killed for what she loves. It is also a
piece of history because she is one of the luckiest people ever to survive a
gunshot to the head and that gives even more reasons why an
autobiography is more to just entertain and intrigue us. Malala getting shot in
the head is a piece of history because, in many years time people will look
back on the world and possibly read autobiographies like Malala’s and they
will understand the society we currently live in. For these multiple reasons, is
why I think that an autobiography is not here for our entertainment but it is
more so for our understanding of ourselves and other people's lives.

In summary of my persuasive text autobiographies are not just for our

entertainment they are for our knowledge and a piece of a history. We all of
this information i have presented in front of you today I hope you can
understand and see that autobiography is not just a personal tale that
intrigues and entertains us they are for our understanding of the world and
ourselves.

Mode 3
Reflection for Debate
What was my role with in the team, and explain the details?
My role with in the team was a speaker. As a speaker for my team my role
was to create and prepare a speech with my partner to say at the debate.

How effective was I in that role three specific examples of how I did
that?
I think I was fairly effective in my role. I think this because I fulfilled the role of
speaking at the debate, I helped my partner make the speech and I during
the debate I helped write rebuttals for my team.

If I had the opportunity again what would I do different?

If I had a second opportunity to do this I will do a couple of things differently.
The first thing is I will be more prepared. When I did my speech I was a bit
under prepared. The second thing is, I will try to create a better speech. I
would want to to this again now knowing how a debate is, so it is easier for
me to create a speech that flows more.

As a team did we work collaboratively, if yes give reasons of why and

how, and if no provide examples? Define and research what
collaboratively means.
Collaboratively means how well did you work together as a group. We did
work fairly collaboratively as a group. The days we were not that
collaboratively was when our team leader was away. These were the most
hard days because we did not have a sense of direction. Either than the one
day our team leader was away, we worked together as a group and got a
long very well.
