UNIVERSITY

The university is an institution of higher education and research, which

awards academic degrees in various fields. A university provides undergraduate and
postgraduate education. The word university comes from the Latin university
magistrorum etscholarium, which means "community of teachers and academics". The
university's predecessors existed long ago in Asia and Africa.
Within the university itself, there are several faculties. We can interpret the
faculty as a group of study programs that have the same disciplinary foundation. For
example the engineering faculty, which can include mechanical engineering study
programs, automotive engineering study programs, civil engineering study programs and
so on. In a university also have a leadership structure, including: the leaderin a university
is called the rector, the leaderin a faculty is called the dean. The study program also has
its own structure. The leadership is in the
hands of a study program head and is usually assisted by severalrepresentatives,
a secretary, a treasurer and several other positions.

The author is of the opinion that universities or colleges have the task of
administering higher education which includes academic, vocational and/or professional
education programs, research and community service in the fields of science and
technology, as well as general science in accordance with statutory provisions. And
universities are very related to students, companies and professions. As will be explained
below:
 UNIVERSITY RELATIONSHIP WITH STUDENTS
 The relationship between students and universities is closely related, where a
university is established to accommodate graduates from high school/ vocational school
level, where they choose a university to continue their education. While studying at the
university, students are also required to pay other fees. This is where the relationship
between students and the university is intertwined, from these costs a university can
operate. Where all students at the university pay tuition fees, the costs are used for campus
operations. Universities need students and students also need universities. Students can get
the knowledge they seek from lecturers at the university.
 UNIVERSITY RELATIONSHIP WITH COMPANIES
Companies need to have affinity with universities. One of the reasons is that
various research and university innovations can encourage the country's economic
development. Technology is also developing rapidly and science continues to
develop. So that it is increasingly clear the importance of cooperation between
universities and industry. Universities themselves become places for the creation of
various innovations which in the future can be utilized bythe industry.
 UNIVERSITY RELATIONSHIP WITH PROFESSIONS
The higher a person's education, the wider the career opportunities. This is because
many company qualifications require diplomas so that bachelor graduates are able or have
the ability in a field of work. That way college becomes important because it can open up
someone's career according to that person's abilities
