Name of the Institution: Dalmia Junior College, Dalmia

Background of the Institution :

Dalmia Junior College, Dalmia was established in year 1963 and is located at the middle
of the Rajanpur and is situated at distance of 35 Kms from the district headquarter, Rajanpur.
The college has been affiliated to Utkal University. The Dalmia Junior College, Dalmia is a part
of Dalmia College and is working from the academic session 1983-84, soon after the
introduction of 10 +2 +3 by the state Government. In the year 1972 the pre-University course in
the Commerce was introduce and latter on the course converted into intermediate in Commerce
(I.com). Dalmia Junior College is imparting commerce education in higher secondary level with
128 sanctioned strength. Various subject like Accountancy, Business Studies & Management,
Business Mathematics & Statistics, Banking and Insurance with Costing and Fundamental of
Entrepreneurship with Management Accounting etc. are being thought to the student basing on
the syllabus prescribed by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha. From the past
records it reveals that the minimum cut off mark to get admission in the +2 Commerce is 70% in
the 10th Board Examination. The students’ performance in the Commerce stream is very good
and the success rate in the CHSE(O) examination is almost 99%. The quality performance is also
excellent as the statistics shows more than 50% students are getting first class. In short, the
performance of the students in the Annual CHSE(O) examination is outstanding in both quantity
and quality.

The college management is interested to make a comparative analysis on the performance


of the students in the Annual examination in two subjects preferable Cost Accountancy and BMS
(Business Mathematics & Statistics).

PROBLEMS STATEMENT/INFORMATION :

A survey was conducted in January 2018 and the primary data collected from the students
of the commerce of Dalmia Junior College. The data collected are reflected as follows.

ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION:

The comparative analysis reveals that the average standard of the students and their
performance in both subjects is more than 70%. The Median marks in both subjects also show in
between 72 to 74 %. The mode reflected the frequency of qualitative performance. The modal
marks in cost Accounting is 74.16 % where as that of Business Mathematics and Statistics is
83.88. the performance of the students in both subject is consistent and encouraging.
