Dear my friend

Hello! How are you my friend? I hope you’re doing well and healthy. I am Sabrina
Azizah Rahmaidini Rabung, you can call me Sabrina. I am 17 years old and a student of
Islamic Senior High School Ummusshabri, Kendari City, Indonesia. I'm a dorm student at
Islamic Senior High School Ummusshabri. I love draw and everything ebout adventure. I am
so grateful to have your letter earlier that tells me about wonderful culture that Philippines
have. In this letter, I would like to reply and tell you the culture of Indonesia, especially in
our Traditional Culinary and Traditional Dance. We have a lot of tradition and culture in
Indonesia, but mine is Javanese.

In Javanese culture, we have traditional cuisine such as Dawet Ireng. Dawet Ireng is
ice cendol originating from the Butuh, Purworejo area, Central Java. The word ireng comes
from the Javanese language which means black. Black dawet granules are obtained from
burning straw ash mixed with air to produce black air. This water is then used as dawet dye.
This drink is made from rice flour which is formed into small pieces in cold water. Enjoyed
with coconut milk mixed with brown sugar and ice cubes. There are also those who add
pieces of jackfruit or shaved ice. In addition to its delicious chewy taste, the use of straw in
this dawet turns out to have its own health benefits. Merang can relieve the heat inside to
be thrilling.
