Guiding an Online TOUR

Nowadays, people live in a very small world. The earth does not change, but
the way we can share information makes parts of the world become easier to reach.
One way to reach the world is by looking at online tours. However, the online tours
which are viewed by many people will be the most interesting ones.
In this chapter, you are going to learn about how to share your views of the
world to the audience in an interesting way. There are several steps that you can
follow so that you can make an interesting online tour that will gain the interest of
many viewers.

OUTLINE OF YOUR VIDEO

1. Give a brief introduction of who you are and what you are going to show
the audience

a. Introduce yourself: Hi, my name’s (your name). I’m (who you are). Today,
we are about to go on a wonderful journey to/around (name of the place/city).
b. We’ll begin our journey by visiting (the first location). Add an
interesting phrase like come on, let’s go, let’s check it out…

2. Explain about (the first location) one part at a time. You don’t need to be in a
hurry because it’s an online tour.
a. Explain about the history of the location. For example:
i. (The location) was built in (year). It was built by (important person’s name/

ii. It was established as (the original function of the location).

The great pyramid was built as

the cemetery of the Pharaohs
who ruled in Egypt.

iii. Now, it is well-known as (the current function of the location).

 3. GO TO SECOND LOCATION.Elaborate on the interesting parts of the location, who
usually visit the location, etc. For example:
i. (The location) was built in (year). It was built by (important person’s
name/ dynasty/government).

in the picture.

ii. People who visit (the location) are usually interested in (the places),
and why they are interested in (the places)

 b. End the explanation of the location, and give a sign that you are moving on
to the next location. (If you are explaining of only one location, explain in
details the interesting parts of each place inside the location)

4. Explain about (the next location) in a similar order as step 3. Remember,

you don’t need to be in a hurry because it’s an online tour.
a. Explain about the history of the location
b. Elaborate on the interesting parts of the location, who usually visit the
location, etc.
c. End the explanation of the location, and give a sign that you are moving
on to the next location.

5. Tell the audience that you are at the last location of the day. Explain about
(the last location) in a similar order as step 3.
a. Explain about the history of the location
b. Elaborate on the interesting parts of the location, who usually visit
the location, etc.

6. END YOUR YOUR REPORT

End the explanation of the last location, summarize what you have done today,
and end the tour.
a. End the tour by thanking the audience for watching and ask them to
join another tour that you might have to offer.
b.Ask the audience to leave a comment on your tour video, like, and
subscribe to your channel (if you are sharing the video via
YouTube).

Have fun making your own online tours and do not worry too much about your
language. However, have one or two friends check your video before you share
them publicly to make sure that your explanations are comprehensible.
