FRIENDS OF THE HAMILTON TOWNSHIP LIBRARY FALL 2011 OUR OCTOBER PROGRAM Ichabod Crane will pay us a visit

on October 25th, just in time for Halloween. Impersonator Neill Hartley of the American Historical Theater of Philadelphia will first portray Washington Irving and introduce you to his work. He will then enter the story, becoming his alter ego, Ichabod Crane. Tall and slim like Ichabod, he also shares many other attributes of the character making for a perfectly eerie entertaining program. So save the date and be there on the 25th in the community room on the lower level at 7:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served following the performance. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED We will be gift wrapping in Barnes and Noble at the Hamilton Market Place on Saturday, December 17, 2011 to help raise funds to carry out our mission. Our allotted time in from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We need volunteers to work two hour shifts. Please contact Mollye Carroll at 609-586-4399 to let her know you want to help out. 2011 MONTHLY BOOK SALE SCHEDULE Monday, October 17th December Monday, November 21st No sale in

There is always a need for restockers, sorters, sellers, and movers. WHAT WE ARE READING Friends member, Karen Barrows, recommends The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver. Anything this author writes is wonderful, but this novel is particularly interesting because the story has woven into it many real people from the 1930s through 1950s. Youll meet Frida Kahlo, Diego

Rivera and Leon Trotsky. It ends with an interesting plot twist. It is available at our Library in hard copy or as a Book on CD. The author reads it herself and does a great job with the voices of the characters. PROGRAMS AND MEETINGS 2012 All our meetings and programs are usually held on the 4th Tuesday of the month and begin at 7:00 p.m. The schedule for next year is: Tuesday, January 24th Tuesday, April 24th Tuesday, July 24th Tuesday, October 23rd These days are subject to change but were firm as of press time. RECENT DONATIONS TO THE LIBRARY Have you have visited the Library recently? If so, you might have seen and/or sat in the new chairs which are receiving rave reviews from patrons. Seventy of these chairs replace most of the wooden and cloth ones which were breaking and difficult to keep clean. But, more are needed. See question #1 on reverse page. To encourage young people to continue reading, each child who completed the summer reading program received a coupon from the Friends for a free book from our daily or monthly book sales. Of the over 400 children who completed the program, names were drawn and 50 lucky winners received $10 gift certificates for a book from Barnes and Noble.
