6 Dimensions of Wellness
PHYSICAL WELLNESS
-is knowing your body and giving it what it needs for health, healing, and energy.
Examples:
-eating foods that are healthy and that you enjoy, exercise, having proper nutrition, having a
healthy body
MENTAL WELLNESS
-is allowing your brain both stimulation and rest for critical thinking, curiosity, and creativity.
Examples:
good study skills, learning new things, having new ideas, being creative, becoming a critical
thinker
SOCIAL WELLNESS
-refers to the relationships we have and how we interact with others.
-helps ease anxiety, depression, decrease stress, boost self-worth, provide comfort, prevent
loneliness, and increase life expectancy. On the other side, lacking strong social connections
poses a huge risk to one's mental, emotional, and physical health
Examples:
being able to talk to someone, having friends, interacting with family members, be a part of the
community
EMOTIONAL WELLNESS
- is the ability to successfully handle life's stresses and adapt to change and difficult times.
- Those that are emotionally healthy have the ability to deal with these challenges, including
stress, relationships, responsibilities, upsetting events, and unanticipated situations.
Examples:
Staying positive, controlling your anger, being happy, managing your fears, dealing with
problems and difficult situations
ENVIRONMENTAL WELLNESS
-is contributing to and engaging with spaces that are safe, accessible, and sustainable.
Examples:
recycling, conserving energy, being aware of the limits of the earth's natural resources, having a
clean environment
SPIRITUAL WELLNES
-is connecting to your inner and outer worlds to support you in living your values and purpose.
Examples:
-praying, going to church, meditating, knowing what is right and wrong, having good values,
knowing the meaning of life
