DETAILED LESSON PLAN

In
Mathematics 5

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lessons, 75% of the students should be able to:

a. Visualize and describe the different solid figures

b. Identify the faces vertex and edges of a solid figure
c. Display cooperativeness during activity

II. SUBJECT MATTER

 Topic: Solid Figures
 References: 21st Century Matheletics
 Materials: Pictures, real object, chart
 Values: Active Participation

III. PROCEDURE

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Prayer

- “Before we start, please all (The assigned student will stand

stand and let us pray. (Name of in front of the class and lead the
student) Please lead us in prayer.)
today's prayer.”

2. Greetings

- Good Afternoon, class! “Good afternoon Teacher

Kristine!”
- “Pick up all the papers under
your chair and align your (The students will pick up all the
chairs properly.” pieces of papers)

- “You may now take your - “Thank you Teacher Kristine!”

seats.”

3. Checking of attendance

- “Is everybody present

today?”

4. Setting of Standards

- “First and foremost, I want

you to know our class rules”

 Respect and listen to your

teacher and classmate.

 Be quiet when the teacher

is talking.

 Raise your right hand if

you want to speak.”

- “Is that clear? “Yes, teacher”

5. Review of Past Lesson

“Before we proceed to our next

topic, what was our lesson “Circle”
yesterday?”

A circle is a round-shaped figure

“Again, what is a circle? Yes that has no corners or edges.
(Name of student)

“Yes, excellent!

“Give me an example of (The students will give some

adjectives, yes (name of student) examples of adjectives)

Activity 1.

Naming the basic plane figures

and basic solid figures. (Using
Venn Diagram)

Teacher shows the figure of

triangle, square, rectangle, and
circle. (Emphasizing plane
figures characteristics and
properties)
Then shows the cube, prism,
pyramid, cylinder, cone and
sphere(Emphasizing solid
figures characteristics and
properties

They complete the Venn

Diagram of the plane figures
and solid figures.

B. LESSON PROPER

a. MOTIVATION

Have you seen an architect? Is

architecture and architect the
same? What are the shapes
used by the architect to build
building?

Fill the empty mind!

Help me to fill the empty mind by

naming correctly the type of solid
figures does object have.

c. PRESENTATION OF
LESSON

- “Do you have any idea what (The students are paying
our topic for today was all attention and listening
about?”
attentively.)
- “Anyone?”
- “Yes?”

“Very good. For today, we will be

discussing the Solid figures”

(The Teacher will proceed to the

discussion of the topic)

Figures like the one represented

in the activity earlier are called
solid figures.

- Solid Figures

 Are three-dimensional
figures that has
length, width, and
height. Moreover, they
have faces, edges and
vertices.

 A face is the flat

surface of a solid
figure.

 An edge is formed
when two faces met. It
is a straight line
segment.

 A vertex (plural:
vertices) is a point
where edges met.

d. COMPREHENSION CHECK
UP

 How many edges the box has?

 How many vertices the box has?
 How you define solid figures?

Solid figures are either polyhedrons or

non-polyhedrons.
C. GUIDED PRACTICE

a. Generalization

Teacher gives some more solid

figures and discuss by counting
the vertices, edges, and faces of
the given solid figures.

 How many edges the box has?

 How many vertices the box has?
 How you define solid figures?

a. Application

“We will be having an activity by

group at least five members in
one group.”

 Direction:
Draw a simple 3d house
design. This will one of your
performance tasks in 3rd
quarter in Math.
Rubrics:
Creativity – 50%
Composition – 20% (Each group will answer their
Relevance to the theme – 20% activity)
Discipline and Coordination – 10%

Total – 100%

b. Values Formation

 Responsibility
 Care and Compassion
 Doing Your Best
 Fair Go
 Respect
 Sustainability
 Harmony
 Active Participation
