Birth defects & familial diseases can cause chaos & stigmatisation on affected individuals &

families and many cultures & modern science trying to find a way in diagnosing, treatment &
prevention of these disorders because of these inherited disorders or birth defects creates
heavy emotional, social and financial burden not only for already affected but also their
families. Until genetic counselling existed, they were able to assist patients on addressing
their scientific & emotional issues after diagnosing any inherited diseases or defects which
can help them make informed decisions based on their own judgement & values. With the
help of genetic science, they were able to make a research on the genetic contributions of
these different diseases such as different types of diabetes & cancers, and cardiovascular,
neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders which influence on the creation and dosage of
treatment. And most industrialised countries considered genetic counselling as the most
important component in clinical genetics where they started to expand by providing
education to different specialists to be able to provide genetic counselling services and reach
more people to it. But implementing it as an integral component of our health care will
involve debates & decisions concerning its level & nature of it in different situations, the
professionals that will provide the services, and the mechanisms of financial support &
coordination with different public health agencies which will depend on the current
healthcare system of their country. It’s also stated the concepts needed to inform these
deliberations like genetic disorders affect individuals, not just families, the question of
whether or not undergo genetic testing will have emotional implications, decision-making
multi-step process influenced not only by technical knowledge but also by emotions and
personal experience, a host of cultural, social, ethical, religious or spiritual issues influence
responses and decisions, the multitude of beliefs, values, perceptions, customs, practices,
family structures and institutions that influence how individuals and families respond are
profoundly affected by culture and ethnicity, and lastly, the overarching issue of the
relationship between the medical-genetic and the psychosocial-counselling aspects of
genetic counselling. Overall, genetic counselling has its promises in evolutionizing genomic
medicine & able to combat different genetic diseases which is why genetic counsellors are
the important factor in this development by learning & make new methods on approaching
our patients whether they are emotional unstable or not & assisting in making tough
decisions & developing their services so that more people will be reach by this said services.
