Lesson 8

TUTULONG O IIWAS

Ano man kalagayan natin sa buhay, darating ang panahon na makatagpo tayo ng taong nangangailangan ng ating tulong
at magtutulak sa atin ng isang decision, tayo ba ay tutulong o iiwas?

Helping others is one of the Lord's desires for his disciples. This is the heartbeat of God; to help his people and led his
people to help others.

Galatians 6:2 “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.

In Matthew 6:1-4, Jesus instructs his followers to have a pure motive for helping others, not to use them or to take
advantage of their weakness. In this text, Jesus makes propositions to choose a godly way of helping others.

ANO ANG MAKADIYOS NA PARAAN NG PAGTULONG SA IBA?

I. HELPS SHOULD BE DONE IN PURE MOTIVE (V.1)

Our motives matter because God cares more about who we are becoming than what we are achieving. Because
our motives determine what we do, who we are, and who we will become.
Jesus has been clear: those who do otherwise good things with wrong motives should not expect any reward from God
(Matthew 6:1–2).
A. Wrong Motive
1. Motive to build names.
2. Motive to control others.
3. Motive to destroy others.
B. Righteous Motive to Help Others
1. Act of obedience - Hebrews 13:16: “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such
sacrifices God is pleased.”
2. Act of Kindness - Luke 6:30: “Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods
do not demand them back.
3. Act of Sacrifice - John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.”
II. HELPS SHOULD BE DONE IN PRIVATE (v.2)

Your giving should be done in private and your Father who see your help in private will reward you in public.

A. To protect the cause of your brothers (v.2) (...do not announce it with trumpets…)
B. To in-store God’s favor (the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you
the truth, they have received their reward in full.)
III. HELPS SHOULD BE DONE VOLUNTARILY (v.3-4)

A. Hindi naghihintay ng kapalit (v.3) (“But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your
right hand is doing,”)
Attitudes can be just as sinful as actions. In fact, as this passage shows, selfish motivations can even take the
"good" out of "good deeds." Giving to the needy in order to be praised for spirituality and generosity is hypocrisy.
B. Hindi naghahangad ng papuri (v.4)

CONCLUSION:

Helping others is the Lord's desires for you.
