PRICING PREAMBLES A, GENERAL 1. The Specifications, Drawings and soil investigation report shall be read in conjunction with the Bill of Quantities 2, The Sub - Contractor shall not use these Bills of Quantities as a construction programme of for the purposes of ordering materials or arranging sub-sub-contracts. The references for these activities shall be the drawings, specification and instructions issued by the Main Contractor. 3. The Sub-Contractor shall arrange Water and Electricity for Works. Sub - Contractor shall arrange the distribution of Electricity and water within the area that works are executed Sub-Contractor shall at his own expenses make arrangement for standby power. 4. These pricing preambles are a standard and comprehensive sel and hence may exceed the requirements of this particular project 5, The costs complying with all conditions, obligations and liabilities described in the Conditions of Contract, Specifications and Bills of Quantities shall be included in rates stated by the Sub - Contractor in Bill of Quantities, unless separately measured. 6, Sub-Contractor may quote all Bills of Bill of Quantities or Piling Works (Bill No.O1 and 02 ,05 ) or Foundation Works (Bill No.01 , Bill No.03 and 04). 7. The Main Contractor may award separate Contracts to the Sub-Contractors that offers the lowest evaluated combination of price proposals, 8. If the Sub - Contractor fails to price any item in Bill of Quantities of quoted Bills, then the cost of the work under such item, shall be held to be spread over and included in the prices given against other items of work. 9. The onus will be on the Sub - Contractor to ensure that the actual cut off levels are established at the time piling. , 10. Prices also deemed to include Rates shall be comprehensive and include for the following: a) All obligations imposed by the Contract including the compliance with security conditions/terms by the Main Contractor. v) Complying in every respect with the requirements and the considerations of the specifications and drawings. © All considerations arising from the definitions incorporated into each preamble seetion. @) Labour for fixing and all associated costs. é Materials and goods incading any wastage and all associated costs. f) Fitting and / or fixing materials and goods in any position, hoisting to any height, Use of scaffolding (if any), plant, equipment, tools and all cost in connection therewith. & h) Protection of completed work, all casings and temporary coverings and making good and clearing away upon completion, Blectricity and Water for the Works. J) Any-additional labours usually associated with measured items. kK) Any earthwork supports (shoring’s, etc), working space allowances. 1) Tfany damage is caused to any pile or piles due to the installation of adjacent piles or due to any other work being carried out by the Sub - Contractor, the Sub - Contractor shall take such remedial measures as may be ordered by the Main Contractor including the installation of additional piles and the cost of such measures shal! be borne by the Sub- Contractor. All measurements are net and the rates’shall inchide for all laps (except for steel reinforcement where the quantity of laps is included in the BOQ quantity), waste, working space and trade or traditional allowances. 11. The pricing of materials shalt take account of the following: Pricing Preambles, Drawings and Specifications shall apply reciprocally between sections of the works unless otherwise described. a) Materials shall be of the best quality available unless otherwise described. b) All materials shall be transported, handled, stored and fixed in accordance with the printed instructions or recommendations of their manufacture or suppliers. 12, Metric units are used throughout the Bill of Quantities for measurement purposes, unless otherwise indicated, Abbreviations used in the Contract are as follows; m ~ Meter m + Square Meter m ~ Cubic Meter LKRorRs —_ - Sri Lankan Rupees PS + Provisional Sum t -Tonne or - Number mm - millimetre h - hour BOQ - Bills of Quantities B. PILING WORK For Estimating purposes, a provisional pile length for piling work under each work categories shall be considered © Pay length of piles a. For Excavation (BOQ items ~A/02/01 , A/05/01) ‘The pay length for excavation shall be commencing from the reduced ground level (ic. 0.0 m EGL (Approximately) to top of lime stone. b. For Excavation (BOQ items -A/02/02 ,A/05/02) The pay length for excavation shall be commencing from the top of lime stone to toe level. c. For Concreting (BOQ items ~ A/02/03, A/0S/03) The pay length for the pile shall be the length between the toe of the pile and the specified cut-off level. Payment for pile shall be based on the pay length multiplied by the unit rate. ‘The rate for piling work shall include for the following; 1, Empty boring and filling with sand 2. ‘The concrete placed in excess above the cut off level (0.5m approximately) which is necessary for flushing out of mud deteriorated conerete ete. 3. When permanent casings specified it includes driving heads and shoes, 4, The use of casings or drilling fluid, or both as required, for stabilization of boreholes. , 5. Cutting off tops of piles is deemed to include preparation and integration of reinforcement into pile cap or ground beam and disposal. 6. The shoring, dewatering and disposal of water on or off site as directed by the Engineer. 7. The removal ofall the spoils including surplus excavated material, any cut lengths, broken concrete or laitarice and used drilling fluid efc., on or offsite as directed by the Engineer, 8. Any special surfacing or construction of earth platform ete required for piling rigs.
