OUTLINE
For distribution: An upgraded version of Dr. ZX (Palm version) software, its new feature is "Com-
mon Rail Pressure Judge" that has been added to the Engine C/U Monitor Display. Use this func-
tion to determine the common rail pressure when you are able to crank up the machine but are
unable to start the engine.
Please download the Dr. ZX service software from Global e-Service/e-Cabinet. (To search for the
service software in e-Cabinet, specify the Identifier No. SY00010440/Language (English).) This
software is also compatible with models older than ZX-1.
Install the service software in accordance with the instructions given in this Service Bulletin.
The software that is downloaded from e-Cabinet contains MIC-DataViewer (ver. 3.0.0.1). Down-
load the Basic Operation Manual on how to use the MIC-DATAViewer from the Global e-Service/
Machine/Mic.

Thoroughly read the safety section in the service manual before starting the work to ensure safe operation.
Welding work, if any, should only be done by qualified welders.

HOW TO USE THE COMMON RAIL PRESSURE JUDGE LX ALL-213

Follow the instructions stated below in the respective order to use "Common Rail Pressure Judge" for a machine that
can be cranked up but cannot be started.

Step 1. Carry out the fault diagnosis of the engine controller.

Step 2. If the fault diagnosis displays any of the following common rail pressure-related error codes, retry using Dr. ZX.

Step 3. If the fault diagnosis does not display the engine controller error code, turn the key ON and run Common Rail
Pressure Judge at the time of cranking.
The engine cannot be started at this time. (Refer to the next page to run this function.)

Step 4. If the Common Rail Pressure Judge continues to display "low" during cranking, an abnormality listed in the
engine manual may be the problem.
Refer to engine manual (1/2) KM-4HK1-J-00 (1/2) (Japanese version, page 1E-170)
or engine manual (1/2) KM-4HK1-E-00 (1/2) (English version, page 1E-171).

Step 5. Carry out the task stated in the engine manual that was used in step 4 (Japanese version: page 1E-171, English
version: page 1E-172) and make sure that there are no abnormalities such as entry of air into fuel system,
blocked fuel filter, damaged fuel pipe, blockage or faulty connection.
If no abnormality is detected, abnormality of supply pipe, injector or pressure limiter is a possibility.
Past incidents reveal that supply pump abnormality often leads to the display of "low" in Common Rail
Pressure Judge.

Select the Dr. ZX icon. Select . If the model is ZX200-3-ZX350-3,

ZW, select "Mid_ZX-3, ZW."
If the model is ZX450-3-ZX850-3,
select "Large_ZX-3."

Go to the

Select "Select Controller." Select "Engine C/U." Select "Start."

Go to the

Select "OK." Select "Monitor Display." State the model code and
serial number and select "OK."

Go to the
lower column.

EXPLANATION ON HOW TO RUN THE DR. ZX SERVICE SOFTWARE (OVERSEAS)
INSTALLER

1 PRE-INSTALLATION PREPARATION

1 Download the service software installer from e-Cabinet.

To download, open the e-Cabinet window from the introduction window.

Click "Search" in the Operation Menu on the left side.

Information Search window Enter "SY00010440" in the Identifier No. column on the upper right hand
side, select "English" as the language version and then press the "Search"
button.
The information search results window will display that a search for "MIC Installer for Dealer" is being conducted.

Click the blue letters under the title, "MIC Installer for Dealer."

Press the "View" button on the lower right hand side of the window.

The window will display that the file is being downloaded. Press the "Save" button

Specify where on the desk top you want to save the file and then, save.

The downloaded installer is compressed. Use the unzipping tool to uncompress. The "MIC_Installer···" folder will
be displayed on the desktop.

2 If you do not have a "Palm Desktop" or "CLIE Palm Desktop" shortcut icon on the PC desktop window, install the soft-
ware into the PC using the CD-ROM that came with the Palm or CLIE and then, proceed to 3 .

3 If the existing Dr. ZX service software has already been installed into Palm or CLIE and PC, start from the following
1 - 1 .

4 If the existing Dr. ZX service software has installed into PC only, start from 1 - 2 .

5 If you are installing Dr. ZX for the first time, begin from 2 . Installation method.

1 Palm that comes installed with the existing Dr. ZX service software
If the downloaded Dr. data is left in Palm, hotsync for back up and then follow the procedure as stated below.
If you don't hotsync, the downloaded data will also be deleted.
• If the existing Dr. ZX software has already been installed into Palm, delete it and install the new Dr. ZX service
software.

Upon installation of the Dr. ZX service software into the

Palm, the Dr. ZX icon will be displayed as shown to the left.

• Deletion procedure
a. Tap the circled area.

b. The menu will be displayed. Select "Delete."

c. The following window will be displayed. Select the Dr. ZX-related application and tap "Delete."

The application to be deleted starts with the following letters, Dr. , EPVC , HMS or PZX
. (Even if the file name begins with Dr., EPVC, HMS or PZX, make sure not to delete any security-
related applications at this moment as noted below.)

[ NOTE ] Do not delete HMS_SecurityJ, PZX_SecurityJ, Security_Lancher, Security, Mini_Security,

and MIC_PASSWORD.

The window in the illustration to the left is merely example.

Note that items to be deleted are not limited to those circled in red.

d. Once all the applications have been deleted, tap "Done" and return to the Palm menu window.

• The pre-installation preparation has been completed if the Dr. ZX icon is no longer found in the Palm menu.

2 If the existing Dr. ZX service software is already installed into your PC, carry out the following procedure.

2 -1. Right-click "Start" at the bottom left of the PC window to refer to Explorer - Program Files. If "C:￥Program
Files￥HitachiMonitoringSystem￥HMS_Conduit" exists, carry out the following procedure.

This action concerns all files that are either titled "uninstall.exe" or that begin with "un*****.exe" in the "C:￥
Program Files￥HitachiMonitoringSystem￥HMS_Conduit￥Installer." folder.

If the following contents do not exist, proceed to 2 -2.

Files￥MachineInformation Center￥Palm" exists, carry out the following procedure to delete the program, and
then proceed to 2. Installation method.

a. Select "Machine Information Center for Dealer" in the "Add / Remove Programs" window in "Start
Setting Control Panel."

If the following contents does no exist, proceed to 2 -3.

b. What you need to do next will depend on your support information version. Click "Click here for support

If it is 2.05.0001, carry out the following steps, (1) and (2), and then proceed to "d." For other versions,
proceed to "d."

(1) Double click "Data BackUp1.exe" in the folder of the installer that was downloaded from the server.

Double click "DataBackUp1.exe," the following window will be displayed. If this window disappears, it means that
the task has been completed.

e. The "InstallShield Wizard" will be activated. Select "Remove" and click "Next."

f. The window confirming the file deletion will be displayed. Click "OK.

1 Double click "Autorun.exe" in the downloaded installer folder. The menu window will appear as shown below. Select
the installer menu language.

12 The following dialog will be displayed. [ NOTE ] If the dialog will not appear and the following window is
displayed, click "Exit." The dialog shown at 12 will be
displayed.

13 Select the Palm user name.

14 Select "Dr. ZX (4 pin or Mining Cable)" and click "Next."

Be careful as you may have one or sometimes, two choices as

shown to the left. Either way, select "Dr. ZX (4 pin or Mining
Cable)".

15 When the following dialog appears, click "OK."

16 Click "Exit" to end the installer.

If you have clicked "Exit" in step 12 , this window will

not be displayed.

17 Run Palm and HotSync.
