Jay Gupta is a mountain runner. As a child, Jay enjoyed most sports. When he was
a teenager he started running in the hills near Leeds, where his family lived, in the
northern part of England.
Jay runs every week – in all kinds of weather. “You can’t stay at home if it’s wet,
cold, and windy. You have to go out and run.”

Earlier this year, Jay won a place on the team going to the World Championships in
Iceland. His trainer expected him to do very well. However, Jay fell and hurt himself
