Pressure powered race car

Overview:

Students will design, construct and race pressure powered race cars regulated by rules
similar and based on the Formula 1Ò in School compe99on.

The compe99on will a drag race in a 10 meters track located in the soccer pitch whit the
cars been hold by a safety line for the hole track; this safety line will go by under the race
passing through eyebolts.

All race cars must be an open wheel race car (formula type) whit design limita9on in:
• Wheels type.
• Wheelbase and chassis dimensions.
• Aerodynamic design.
• Pressurized container volume and type.

For the teams that wants to apply for Formula 1Ò in School México, all op9onal design
features are mandatory.

Design rules:

Wheels

CD´s will be the only type of wheels to be used for the four wheels of the car. Cars must
have four wheels.

Wheelbase and chassis dimensions.

Wheelbase must be up to 30cm long.

 Tow eyebolts must be fastened to a solid structure under the car chassis, this tow
eyebolts must be separated at least 15 cm.

The chassis must have 4cm clearance above the ground in a single plate.

Aerodynamic design.

Pressurized container fearing is allowed but not. This fearing can run for the hole length
of the chassis and can have a free aerodynamically shaped 9p. Team number and group
must be in booth sides of the fearing. Free livery can be designed but must not have any
double senses or aggressive topics. If rearing is not used, iden9fica9on s9ckers must be
used for iden9fica9on.

The use of wings is allowed but not mandatory. The length of the wing, whether front or
rear, must not be greater than 7cm and the width must not exceed the distance
between the wheels of each axle, the axles must be the same size.
Pressurized container volume and type

The only container allowed is the one from Coca-Cola brand with 355 ml volume, the
boUle label must be in place for iden9fica9on process.
The stopper allowed to contain the pressure is a wine boUle cork. A ball inflator valve shall
be used to inflate the boUle using a pump.

For any component, 3D printed parts are allowed but not mandatory.

Track rules.

The track will be 10 meters long and will be on the soccer field. Hemp string must be used
to guide the car around the track, it must be aUached at the start and finish line and must
not move.

The way to hold the hemp thread to the floor should not mistreat it in any way, the use of
weight or ballast is recommended to stop the thread.

Rubric and compe..on rules.

The winner will be the car that runs the 10 meter track the fastest.
