1. Should SCF accept or reject ACL’s request? Which option would you select? What
risks are involved?

The request for Air Connection Links should be rejected by Shell Case Fabricators due to the
numerous risks concerned.

 The primary threat is that the product will be less productive than its
dome-shaped cousin.

 The second danger is BCWP, also referred to as earned value, because the product tha
t was made could perform worse than its dome-shaped equivalent, signaling ideal dem
and rather than the anticipated out-of-sight requirement.

 The undersea modem project was running two weeks behind schedule, as Songsee
had indicated. Thus, putting any modifications into place as suggested would be next
to impossible. The entire shape of the modem would need to change from rectangular
to dome-shaped, which would be very challenging.

 This also has financial implications for engineering. Given that the modification was
not taken into account when the project budget was created, this consequence would
affect the cost of the work that was scheduled that was budgeted.

 Lastly, Sabin asserted that the execution of this modification will result in lower
earnings than SCF would generally make from the growing need for modems. The
costs to implement the change, however, were projected to be three times higher after
the discussion with her staff.

2. How should SCF negotiate with ACL? How can SCF and ACL develop a positive long-
range relationship? Give some specifics?

 The construction of the modem and the request for a change in the modem's shape
should be discussed by SCF and ACL.
 failing to start agreements could cost SCF the project entirely, so it's crucial that this
action be carried out.
 This is because the two businesses have maintained a strong working connection
over the previous six years.

The first step in improving collaboration would be for SCF to keep its relationship
with ACL. This entails making sure interaction occurs frequently. Songsee should, for
illustration, consult with ACL management regarding the expenses associated with
executing the change as well as any possible dangers or challenges that may follow.
The next phase could be to enhance ACL's value as a supplier in shell case
production. This means that data pertaining to the various initiatives that is shared with ACL
must be pertinent and useful. As an example, Songsee and her team can inform ACL
management of additional strategies that could be used to escalate the submerged modem
buy power even without changing the modem's structure. All projects must adhere to
schedules, especially when satisfying contractual obligations. In light of this, SCF should
work to provide the modem shell cases by the dates specified by ACL. This will show
dedication, which will increase credibility and encourage a long-term partnership between
the two businesses.
