1.What is your own understanding of ethics and why is it important in this modern society?
The behavior of an individual or community is governed by moral principles or ideals.
Ethics is a wise and practical guide that promotes success in life because it forms an essential
part of a foundation on which a civilized society is constructed. Ethics are important not only in
business but also in academia and society. This is essential to career people, this is because in
order to build a career, one must be governed by the rules of ethics to safeguard oneself and
others. Maintaining a high degree of respect for both people and the profession is the key
benefit of good behavior. To protect society as a whole, ethics are vital. Only if everyone is
obligated to abide by a set of rules can a society prosper. If not, society would collapse. We strive
and follow these norms with the aid of ethics. By using a reward and punishment system, we
enforce and promote those rules.

2.What are your ethical thoughts on Plagiarism? Defend your answer.

Plagiarism is copying someone else's work. It can be phrases or words that belong to
another source without providing credit and putting out someone else's creative idea as though
it is your own. It is very unethical for someone to grab or take credit for something that he/she
doesn’t do. I think people should learn proper ways of giving credit or respect to the owners. As
a student, we have a subject of Intellectual Property which discusses how to properly
acknowledge the sources to avoid plagiarism and methods on how we can ensure that our
properties are protected. This subject is so important to us since we are conducting our
Technical Research which include citations and references, we are doing that because as we
have stated earlier we must give credit to our resources and by that we can also identify if our
sources is credible or not, that’s why plagiarism is a crime, plagiarism can have legal
consequences, especially if it violates copyright laws or intellectual property rights. Laws protect
creators' rights and can impose penalties for plagiarism.

3.What are your ethical concerns regarding divorce in the Philippines? Elaborate your answer.
Being one of the countries with Catholic religion, frequently sees marriage as a
sacrament and a lifetime commitment. Divorce is viewed as being opposed to Catholic theology
and teaching, which presents ethical problems for anyone considering divorce or supporting its
legalization. The potential harm divorce may do to children and families is a common source of
ethical concern. Divorce, according to critics, may undermine family stability, harm children's
emotional health, and retard their development.

In the Philippines, divorce may still be socially stigmatized. People who are thinking
about divorcing could encounter prejudice, discrimination, and social exclusion. Because of this
stigma, some people choose to remain in unsatisfactory or abusive relationships. Some ethical
viewpoints place a higher value on maintaining marriages and supporting initiatives like
counseling, mediation, and reconciliation over divorce. The idea is that you should try everything
you can to keep your marriage together before thinking about divorcing.

The absence of legal options for people caught in abusive or irretrievably broken
marriages can also raise ethical issues. Absence of divorce might result in unfair situations when
people are compelled to stay in unhealthy marriages because of legal restrictions. The
Philippines is a multicultural country with a wide range of cultural and religious practices. When
it appears that the legal system is imposing the values and beliefs of a specific religious or
cultural group on the general populace, ethical questions are raised.
