I bought my first Zippo in 1979 when I started as a flying
crew chief in the Air Force. I still have that first Zipoo and it
still works great, despite the abuse it took from an Air
Force aircraft mechanic over 2l years of service all over the globe.This
lighter has seen action in almost every conflict since 1979. lt is my good luck

TechnigraphicsrM process. The dyed image is reproduced on a transfer
medium,which is then positioned on the object to be imprinted. By the
application of heat and pressure, the entire image, with all of its colors, is
transferred in one step. Subtler gradations and a wider range of colors
are possible. The rich colors, subtle gradations and delicate detail of the

Recently, my father gave me the
sinceVietnam. He treasured that lighter as a friend. Although

Collector Story
I am an Army Officer who served with the 82nd
Airborne Division. I would always iump with
my "lucky lighter" (aZippo with a shamrock on
it). I made 38 jumps while at Fort Bragg. The
one time I didn't have my lucky lighter, I ended up breaking my
leg! Since then, l've moved to Germany and I am currently
serving in Kosovo. I purchased the Indiana Jones Shamrock
2A0F )75 750F 957 lighter and I hope it's as lucky as my old Zippo!

Collector Story
My friend and I decided to shoot a couple of rounds off at a local gun
club. I went down range to put up the targets. As I was walking bacl<, my
friend dropped the gun, and two shots went off, both hitting the Zippo in
the breast pocl<et of my coveralls. My lucky Zippo that I boughr off a friend for 5 bucks
saved my lifel The lighter was destroyed, but I still carry it with me wherever I go.

Collector Story
In 1970 | was stationed in Subic Bay. ltold my wife,who
was back in the states, that I had decided to quit smol<-
ing. I soon realized that I was not going to quit, but
failed to tell my wife. One evening I was taping a letter to send back to
my wife.The tape recorder was on record while I pulled a fresh pack of
cigarettes from my shirt, unwrapped it, pulled out my Zippo and lit up. I
never realized that all of the sounds were being taped, especially the

I was visiting the Czech republic through an exchange program in 1995. One night at the local bar, I asl<ed a friend
for a light. He offered this cool Zippo. I jokingly told the guy thar I'd probably end up taking it with me, so he gave
it to me as a Present. When I found the lighter in my coat pocl<et the next morning, I read the inscription. lt was
the history of the Statue of Liberty, and an engraved picture of Lady Liberty.This was his one and only souvenir from the USA (my
home country.) Every time I use my Zippo, I think of the most generous and giving guy in the Czech Republic!

My dad and I were fishing on Lake Norfolk in the early
'60s. I had a bite on the line just as my dad was firing up
his lighter. Not being a very good fisherman, I jumped up
to set the hook, and Dad's Zippo lighter went flying overboard. The lake
water was high that year due to flooding, but the following year I could
walk on dry ground in the same area we had fished. And up in rhe
branches of a small tree I found the Zippo.

When my grandfather passed away, I was given the Zippo lighter that was issued to him by
the army. The front side Teads "FROHEWEIHNACHTEN I953WURZBURG GERMANY."
The back reads "COMPANY E 78 ll SCU" and his name. This, aZippo made in l953,was
the first Zippo in my still small collection. lt will also be the most cherished. Thanks for making such great

Not a real amazing story here, but just wanted to tell what
happened. I had a Zippo with "Ford Truck" logo on it, and
lost it about a year and a half ago. lt recently resurfaced in
my burning pit outside - after dozens of fires, and sitting our all winter in
Michigan, under lots of snow. I merely wiped it off, changed the flint and
fueled it. lt lit right up! | was particularly impressed by the fact that not
even the outside finish was damaged. Once again Zippo has shown how
tough and robust their product is.

lwas a member of the U.S.Army l0lstAirborne Division,assigned to the BravoTeam of the 2nd 502
LRRP's.We were deployed along theVietnam/Cambodian border to observe and track enemy patrols
One night, a 20-man patrol of NorthVietnamese regulars happened upon our position. During the
ensuing firefight, I thought that I had been shot when I felt a powerful hit on the left side of my chest. Not seeing any
blood and only observing an unusual bruise on my chest, we carried on. lt was only after recurning with our prison-
ers to the nearest firebase that I realized that my favorite lighter, my Zippo, had been in my left shirt pocket and had
taken a direct hit from an AK-47 round!The lighter was destroyed, but I kept it with me for the rest of my tour. I
had never carried that lighter in my shirt pocl<et before that May night, but have carried one there ever since! | will
always remember that lighter with the yellow inscription on it. lt was a true friend and a lasting memory.

My wife gave me my first Zippo as my coming home present from Desert Storm, in SaudiArabia. I was
serving in the United States Marine Corps, so my Zippo was appropriately emblazoned with the Marine
Corps emblem.Very cool!The lighter has a brushed silver body with a shiny brass eagle, globe, and
anchor. lt's not just a lighter.This is a keepsake from my wife for our time away from each other and a reminder of
who I am.This token is better than any of the medals or citations that I received.

asked if I had ever owned a 1938 Chevrolet. I confirmed that I
had, back in 1972. "Well," he said, "l found aZippo lighter with
your name on it." lcould hardly believe it! My lighter sat in the
back seat of that old Chevy for 28 years! The car had been fully
restored and was the featured car for March in the 2000 Classic
Car calendar.When the photo was taken for the calendar, my
lighter was in it.

Yesterday my wife went to pick up my long-lost Zippo lighter; it

was only 30 miles away. lc's as bright as the day I bought it, and
still works!

Collector Story
It was getting dark one night as I walked in a field near a small river. My dog Rover was running thougn
the river, and when I got to the end of the field, I called him.When he didn't come, I walked back up the
field to find he was tangled in a long thread.When I bent down to get him untangled, my Zippo fell our of
my pocket into the river. I tried to Srab it, but missed. About three months later I was walking my dog in the same field.
I let him off the lead, and he ran though the river across the field. When I got to rhe end of the field, he ran back ro me
with something in his mouth. It was my Zippo, wet and muddy, but still working.

Collector Story
On a camping trip in the Black Hills when I was l0 years old, my dad and I ran into a bear.We
stayed still until my dog started barking and it turned and saw us. I was standing right next to a
pile of some twigs and I bent over and pulled some brown weeds and threw them on top of the I
