Crochet Hooks: H
Special Stitches:
Fpdc Cluster: *YO, insert hook from front to back
around next post, YO and pull up a loop, YO and
pull through 2 loops on hook*, repeat once, YO and
pull through all loops on hook.
1. With H hook and blue yarn, ch 19, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (18sts)
2. Ch 2, turn, hdc in next st, *ch 1, sk 1, hdc*, repeat until 1 st remains, hdc in last st.
3. Change to green yarn. Ch 2, turn, hdc in same st, *dc in skipped st on previous row, hdc in next
st*, repeat until 1 st remains, hdc in last st. Tip: tie a scrap of yarn to the front of this row to mark
the right side (rs) of the scarf.
4. Change to blue yarn. Ch 1, turn, sc in same st and in each st to end of row.
5. Ch 1, turn, sc in same st and in each st to end of row.
6. Change to white yarn. Ch 2, turn. Work in FLO for this row. Hdc in same st, *sk 2, (sc, hdc, dc) in
next st*, repeat until 2sts remain, hdc 2.
7-12. Ch 2, turn, *sk 2, (sc, hdc, dc) in next st*, repeat to end of row.
13. (RS) Change to black yarn. Ch 1, turn, sc in same st and in each st to end of row.
14. Ch 3, turn. Work in BLO for this row. TRC in same st and in each st to end of row.
15. Ch 1, turn. This step creates a 3-D hat brim by folding the previous row in half lengthwise. To do
this, *insert hook in current st, then in remaining back loop from previous row, YO and pull yarn
through all stitches, YO and pull through 2 loops on hook*. Repeat in each st to end of row.
16. Change to blue yarn (this step creates the hat band). Ch 2, turn, hdc in same st and in each st to
end of row.
17. Ch 2, turn. *fphdc, bphdc*, repeat to end of row.
18. Change to black yarn. Ch 2, turn. Work in FLO for this row. Hdc in same st and in each st to end
of row.
19-21. Ch 2, turn, hdc in same st and in each st to end of row.

Tip: To avoid loops from stretching out of place, work st through back loop plus loop behind
(sometimes referred to as the third loop).
41-49. Ch 1, turn, sc in same st, *sk 1, 2sc in next st*, repeat until 1 st remains, sc in last st.

Scarf should measure approximately 47” from starting edge. This creates a scarf with a finished length of
70”. For a longer scarf, add rows to this section.
Make sure to end with last row worked on WRONG SIDE of scarf.
128. (RS) Change to blue yarn. Ch 2, turn. Hdc in same st and in each st to end of row.
129. Ch 2, turn. Work this next section loosely. BPDC in each post to end of row.

169. Ch 2, turn. Hdc in same st, small bobble (see “special stitches” at start of pattern), hdc, *hdc, small
Tiny Nose (for small snowmen “twins”): With H hook and orange yarn, start with a magic circle of 4-6 sts,
join and pull closed. Finish off, and yarn tail to sew circles in place.
Large Nose: With H hook and orange yarn, start with a magic circle of 6 sts, sl st to join and pull closed.
2sc in each st to end of round, sl st to join. Finish off, and yarn tail to sew circles in place.
Eyes are 2 black buttons, sewn in place with black thread and sewing needle. Mouth is stitched in place
with light weight black yarn or embroidery floss and yarn needle.
Cheeks – make 2 (optional): With H hook and light pink yarn, start with a magic circle of 8 sts, join and
pull closed. Use a yarn needle and yarn tail to sew circles in place.
Additional options: Brush lightly with blush; sew light pink buttons in place.
Side Tassle: Cut 16 strands of matching yarn, approximately 8-10” long. Pull one end of all strands
through left edge of scarf, approximately 2” from bottom edge. Tie a knot.
Second Snowman
Earmuffs:
Top bar - With right side facing and H hook, attach green yarn to a post,
on side of scarf, approximately half way down. Sc in same st, ch 4.
Working in remaining loops from row 50, hdc sl st (see “special stitches” at
top of pattern) in each st to end of row, ch 4, sc around a post on left side
of scarf directly across from starting point.
Ch 1, turn, sc in same st, sc 4 around chain, sl st in each st to end of row,
sc 4 around chain, sc in beginning st. Finish off and weave in ends.
Muffs - make 2:
1. With H hook and red yarn (plus red fur yarn if desired),
start with a magic circle of 6 sts, join and pull closed.
2. 2sc in each st to end of row.
3. *sc2tog*, repeat to end of row. Finish off, leaving a tail for sewing to scarf. Use a yarn needle and yarn
tail to sew in and out of remaining sts. Pull closed. Sew muffs at each end of bar, on front of scarf.
Fold green “collar” section down. Place button on top, in center. With yarn needle and matching yarn or
thread, sew through scarf, collar and button.
Third Snowman
Scarf: With H hook and yellow yarn, ch 18, hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in
each ch across. Change to red yarn. Ch 1, turn, sc in same st and in each
st to end of row.
Change to yellow yarn. Ch 2, turn, hdc in same st and in each st to end of
row. Finish off and weave in ends.
Pull one end of scarf through left edge of matching scarf section,
approximately 2” from side, until piece is ½ way through. Tie a knot.
Fourth Snowman
Pompom top: Wrap two strands of yarn around the palm of your hand 16
times. Carefully slide off your hand. Wrap a piece of matching yarn around the
center of the strands. Pull tight and tie a knot. Wrap around one more time,
pull tight and tie another know. Hold the two tails from the matching yarn. Trim
loops of pom until desired size. Use yarn tails to tie pom to center top of hat
section (first row of blue post stitches).
Overall Straps (make 2): Leave a tail in the beginning for sewing to scarf. With
H hook and blue yarn, ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 chs. *Ch 1,
turn, sc 3*, repeat 5 more times. Finish off and weave in end.
Place starting edge (with yarn tail) on scarf, next to first row of blue. There is
approximately 1” between side of scarf and side of strap. With yarn needle and
yarn tail, sew bottom edge of strap in place. Weave in end. Place button on top
of other end of strap. With needle and thread, sew button in place. Repeat for
second strap. See main photos for placement.
Last Snowman
Pompom top (make 2): Wrap two strands of yarn around the palm of your hand
16 times. Carefully slide off your hand. Wrap a piece of matching yarn around
the center of the strands. Pull tight and tie a knot. Wrap around one more time,
pull tight and tie another know. Hold the two tails from the matching yarn. Trim
loops of pom until desired size. Use yarn tails to tie each pom to one corner of
hat section (first row of red).
“Scarf”: Add decorative stitching with red yarn and yarn needle.
Side Tassle: Cut 16 strands of matching yarn, approximately 8-10” long. Pull one end of all strands
through right edge of scarf, approximately 2” from bottom edge. Tie a knot. Pull yarn strands apart for a
frizzy look.
