Preparing a Load Detail for T&TEC:

1. Determine the major loads in the system and decide on how often they will be operating at full load. Note that
kVA or kW values for common equipment can be found on the T&TEC web site;
https://ttec.co.tt/useful_tips/conserve_electricity/TTECApplianceUsageGuide.pdf
2. A table should be prepared listing the loads description, the load voltage, whether three phase or single phase,
the power or current and the diversity for the load. Remember that for three phase units, the single phase loads
should be listed by which phase they are applied to, for example, 3 @ 115V 20A single phase loads are
equivalent to one 20A three phase load.
3. The diversity for the load can be difficult to determine and is usually based on experience, it can vary from 1 for
lighting and air‐conditioning loads to 0.4 for some kitchen and laundry appliances.

Example 1:
An Apartment single phase 230/115V supply voltage.
1. List Loads on load table.
Item Description Quantity Voltage Current kVA (pf 0.8) Diversity
1 Light Fixtures 9 115 0. 125 1
2 TV 2 115 0.1025 1
3 Microwave 1 115 13.6 1.564 .5
4 Washing Machine 1 115 5 0.575 0.25
5 Drier 1 230 2 5.6 0.5
6 Blender 1 115 8 0.92 0.25
7 Computer 1 115 1.2 0.138 1
8 Plug Outlets 20 115 0.3 0.25
9 Air Conditioning 1 230 12 2.760 1

2. Summarize totals of loads and diversity. (Note single phase loads can be shared between the two lines)
For 230V loads
Total Load with diversity = quantity x kVA x diversity
For 115V loads
Total Load with diversity = quantity x kVA x diversity x 0.6 (to cater for sharing of loads across lines)

Item Description Quantity Voltage kVA (pf 0.8) Diversity Total Load
With Diversity
1 Light Fixtures 9 115 0. 125 1 0.675
2 TV 2 115 0.1025 1 0.123
3 Microwave 1 115 1.564 .5 0.4692
4 Washing Machine 1 115 0.575 0.25 0.08625
5 Drier 1 230 5.6 0.5 2.8
6 Blender 1 115 0.92 0.25 0.138
7 Computer 1 115 0.138 1 0.0828
8 Plug Outlets 20 115 0.3 0.25 0.9
9 Air Conditioning 1 230 2.760 1 2.76
Total load demand with diversity 8.03425
The load demand may be taken as 8kVA.
