SPEECH ABOUT SELF CONFIDENCE

Good morning everyone I’m Erika Mae Funelas, from grade 8 Colossians and I’m
here to discuss self-confidence. What is self-confidence?

Self-confidence is the key to success. Self-confidence means that you trust your
skills and abilities, you believe in yourself and you don’t listen to others, you have a
positive mind, you don’t think about negative things and you can handle criticism, it
can also make you independent. Most successful people are the ones with high self-
confidence, not because they are smart, but because of being confident in their
selves and their decisions, no one can achieve goals without self-confidence.

Sometimes, confidence is something we lack because we think about the negative

results of what we are doing, we often think that we’ll make wrong decisions along
the way, so how do we gain self-confidence?

There are a lot of ways to increase self-confidence in you. Remember it takes time to
improve your self-confidence but you’ll eventually improve it. First stop comparing
yourself to others. Comparison can lead you to envy and being envious can lead you
to feel bad about yourself, you need to remind yourself that comparing isn’t helpful,
life is not a competition, and sometimes comparing can destroy your relationships
with other people.

Accept yourself, and surround yourself with positive people and be yourself. Do not
fear the judgment of other people, don’t think that something is wrong with you
because you receive judgment. Learn new skills and try new things, it can help you
build confidence and learn a lot. Accept compliments, why? Because when someone
compliments you it will serve as a reminder that you do good things, don’t put
yourself down because you think that you are not worthy. Honestly I am not very
confident with myself, I have times that I am insecure with myself, but I always find
ways to overcome my insecurities and stay confident for the rest of the day.

Now before ending my speech, a quick reminder that to overcome fear is the
quickest way to gain self-confidence, always believe in yourself and that self-
confidence is very important in you.
