How to Root HTC 816

It is a good idea for Android users to consider rooting their devices. After all, this is the kind of device where, if

Step 2: Unlock the bootloader. You need to visit www.htcdev.com/bootloader and log into your account. You
might need to register first before you can log into it. Just follow the steps there to begin unlocking your device.

Step 3: After the device bootloader has been unlocked, then the next thing that you will have to do is to install
the HTC Sync Manager. Do not forget to install the Clockwork Recovery Mode file as well as the SuperUser app
too
Step 4: Connect your HTC 816 into your computer via the USB. The SuperUser zip file should then be copied
into the root of your phone's storage.

Step 5: Turn off your phone and then boot into HBOOT, then proceed to Fastboot mode.

Step 6: After that, you have to run the CWM recovery.exe you have installed from your PC. Once you press on
the CWM recovery.exe in your computer, it will run a command prompt where details about the program is
written. To proceed with flashing the CWM recovery, then you have to press any key. Wait for a while and some
instructions will show. You must follow the instructions properly.
Step 7: You will then need to boot into the HBOOT mode of your phone. To do this, you just need to press the
power key. Select RECOVERY option. After that, select the “install zip from SD card” option. Locate the
superuser zip file you have copied and pasted into the root of your phone's storage. Once that has been
selected, the next thing that you will have to do is to select yes to proceed.

Step 8: You will have to go back to the RECOVERY main menu. In the menu, you will have to look for and select
the REBOOT option. This should reboot the phone, refreshing it for its super user setting. Once the phone has
successfully rebooted, then that is the time that you can say that the HTC 816 is already rooted.
Aside from the manual method of rooting the device, you have another option at your disposal. This option is
the use of the rooting software available in the market. One of them is MobileGo Wondershare. With just one
click of a button, you can easily root the device. Here are the steps to take when you want to root your HTC 816
using the MobileGo Wondershare program.

Step 1: Since you are using the MobileGo Wondershare, then you have to make sure to go to the website and
download the right software. It should be easy to download the said software since it is the first thing you see
upon visiting the homepage. After the download, run the software.
Step 2: After you are in the interface, you will be asked to connect your device, which is the HTC 816, into the
computer. You can do that either by using WiFi or USB connector. Usually, the USB connector is preferred since
