Routing Assets Database

The Routing Assets Database (RADb), formerly known as the Routing Arbiter Database is a public database in
which the operators of Internet networks publish authoritative declarations of routing policy for their Autonomous
System (AS) which are, in turn, used by the operators of other Internet networks to configure their inbound
routing policy filters.

RPKI-based filtering at large databases and mirror services like RADB

really helps take the sting out of potentially harmful RPKI-invalid IRR
route objects. This will positively impact operators who use bgpq3, irrpt,
or irrtoolset/peval to generate filters, because those tools use
whois.radb.net by default.

What is bgpq3?
DESCRIPTION. The bgpq3 utility used to generate configuration (prefix-lists, extended access-
lists, policy-statement terms and as-path lists) based on RADB data.

IRRPT
A collection of tools which allow ISPs to easily track, manage, and utilize IPv4 and IPv6 BGP routing
information stored in Internet Routing Registry (IRR) databases. Some of these tools include automated IRR
data retrieval, update tracking via CVS, e-mail notifications, e-mail based notification for ISPs who still do
human processing of routing information, and hooks for automatically deploying prefix-lists on routers.

WHY RADB?
Merit RADb enables organizations to register their routing objects, troubleshoot routing problems,
automatically configure backbone routers, generate access lists, perform network planning, and more!
Even better, the RADb service is backed by 24x7x365 live support.

Global BGP Visibility

Allows Merit RADb users to examine the visibility of their network routes and AS numbers from a
worldwide perspective, collecting data from dozens of different BGP route table view points around the
globe via the Route Views Project. Merit RADb distills the connectivity information and allows users to
easily compare their BGP routing information.
Easy Data Management
The RADb website provides guided creation and management of Internet Route Registry (IRR) objects.

What is the internet routing Registry IRR database?

The Internet Routing Registry (IRR) is a globally distributed routing information database.
Established in 1995, the purpose of the IRR is to ensure the stability and consistency of Internet-wide
routing by sharing information between network operators.
What is the purpose of RPKI?

Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) is a security framework by which network owners can
validate and secure the critical route updates or Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) announcements
between public Internet networks.

Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) is a public key infrastructure framework designed to secure the
Internet's routing infrastructure, specifically the Border Gateway Protocol.

MERIT RADb BENEFITS:

 Provides object registration and public whois queries
 TCP tool support (e.g., IRRToolSet)
 Delivers reports on your network’s health from an external perspective
 Unparalleled technical support from experienced engineers
 24 x 7 customer support
 New maintainers registered within 24 hours of submission
 Mirrors the data of more than 30 other IRR databases
 By filtering unauthorized announcements, your organization can prevent route hijacking and denial of
service.
 In addition to declaring your chosen network policy you can now obtain valuable information about the
health of your network assets by maintaining accurate information in Merit RADb.
 Subscribers can get alerts when inconsistencies or objects appear on blacklists.
