    The revised Indian Standard IS 1293:2019 for plugs and socket-outlets will come into effect on October 23, 2020, replacing the old standard.     Subject: Implementation of Revised IS 1293: 2019, "Plugs and socket-outlets for


    household and similar purposes of rated voltage up to and including 250 V & rated
    current up to and including 16 A.

    1. IS 1293: 2005 has been revised as IS 1293: 2019 and has been published. The last
    date for implementation of the revised Standard is 23 October 2020 after which the
    old Standard shall stand withdrawn.
    2. Plugs and sockets are covered under mandatory BIS certification vide Plugs and
    Socket-Outlets (Quality Control) Order, 2019
    Existing Licensee:
    1. No action is required for Licensee using BIS certified plugs/sockets from the same
    source as declared in the CCL list.
    2. In case of change of source of BIS certified plugs/sockets, as declared earlier, the
    CCL list may be updated, by option available on CRS Portal
    Applicant:
    1. The applicant shall ensure that, plugs/sockets used in the product are BIS certified
    as per IS 1293 with Standards Mark and the same shall be declared in the CCL
    list.
