CMS DATABASE BACKUP PROCEDURE

1. Go to VM600 administrator.

2. Go to snapshot copy.

3. In snapshot copy click on select to enter the data source name of source database.

4. After that select the data source name of the source database. Enter User name as DBA and
Password as SQL.

5. Click on create to enter the new database name.

6. Enter the name of new database & click on save. Enter User name as DBA and Password as SQL.

7. After that enter the data source name of new database & click on ok.

8. Enter the time interval to nullify the time period for the database backup & click on ok to
start the backup.(This will provide database copy with complete configuration & mimic
without any measurement data)

9. After the completion of copy click on Ok.

10. Open Sybase Central, go to services & Stop the running server.

11. Now new database has been created. Rename the new database as given in below table.

12. Go to utilities & select “Change log file settings”.

13. Click on next.

14. Click on browse & select the old database file.

15. After entering the old database file click on next.

17. Click on browse & the log file of old database.

20. Click on Finish.

21. Go to D:\VM600_SQL Anywhwere8\SQL\win32 & make a shortcut of “dbeng8” on desktop.


(path of the Sql engine from the folder where the SQL _Anywhere is installed)

22. Right click on the ‘dbeng8’ icon & go to properties. In target enter –f after dbeng8.exe. After that
give path of old database.

23. Go to system administratorODBC Administrator.

24. Click on ‘System DSN’ tab, click on add to enter data source name.

25. Click on ODBC & enter the data source name of old database.

26. Click on login. Enter user id as DBA & password as SQL.

27. Click on database tab & enter the server name. Click browse to select the database file.

28. Go to ODBC & click on test connection.

29. Double click on the dbeng8 icon & following window will be appear for some time.
(Now old database will run on database engine)

30. Go to Sybase central Click on services. Run the server.

31. Repeat steps 12 to 26 except step 21 & 22 for new database. Now new database is being run.

32. Double click on VM Com to start.
