Assignment 1 - Q4 - Sinusoidal Functions Applied to Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) -

Physics 2023
https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/masses-and-springs/latest/masses-and-springs_en.html
Directions: Solve the following problems through the application of SHM Concepts and
Sinusoidal functions of position (m) as a function of time (t). Show all your work.

1)
In a physics experiment, a mass connected to a spring with a given elasticity constant “k”
is released (consider that the system is ideal; therefore, it is a friction-less system). A
scientist records the time that takes the mass to complete exactly one cycle describing
simple harmonic motion (SHM).
From the given information find the following:
a) The amplitude A (m).
b) The mass of the object m (kg).
c) The period T (s).
d) The frequency f (Hz).
e) The angular velocity w (rad/s).
f) The functions of vertical position f(t)y and horizontal position f(t)x as functions of
time.
g) The graphs of f(t)x and f(t)y. (Use DESMOS and insert the pictures of the graphs)
