In countries such as the Philippines, it is unclear how the Kindergarten transition has been

implemented, and how parents facilitate their children's preparation for formal schooling. This
research looks into the concept of writing programs and their impact on learning. The
researchers want to help the slow learners develop their writing abilities so they can keep in
line with the other kindergarten students. The study is concerned with improving the writing
skills of fifteen kindergarten students of Villasis I Central School Sped Center, Villasis,
Pangasinan.

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to improve the writing skills of the fifteen kindergarten students in
Villasis I Central School Sped Center of Villasis, Pangasinan. Precisely, it strives to answer the
following questions:

1. How will the researchers assess the fifteen kindergarten students' writing abilities?

2. Which of the hand activities will be the most effective in enhancing the writing skills of the
students?

Cutting shapes

Tracing lines

Tracing numbers

Tracing vowels

3. Will the writing program improve the writing skills of the fifteen kindergarten students in
Villasis I Central School Sped Center?

Chapter 4

The researchers aim to answer the following questions for this research:

How will the researchers assess the fifteen kindergarten students’ writing abilities?

The researchers conducted two tests, a pre-test, and a post-test, to examine the writing
abilities of fifteen kindergarten students. A pre-test is used to assess a student's understanding,
while a post-test is administered after they have completed an educational program or
segment. According to Lori S. Mestre in Designing Effective Library Tutorials, Pre- and post-tests
are similar to checklists in that they assess student needs before a tutorial and evaluate how
effectively the tutorial satisfied those needs. According to Learning Technology Discrimination
Initiative (2015), pre-test and post-tests of students are viable methods to evaluate the extent
to which an educational intervention has influenced student learning. Students with different
skills and backgrounds come to study a particular subject and must establish a base measure of
their knowledge and understanding.

Which of the hand activities will be the most effective in enhancing the writing skills of the
students?
 Cutting shapes
 Tracing lines
 Tracing numbers
 Tracing words
The researchers conducted a program by experimenting what is the most efficient approach if is
it Cutting shapes, Tracing lines, Tracing numbers, or Tracing vowels that will help the fifteen
kindergarten students to improve their writing skills.

In each activity, the total number of items is four.

In applying four different activities, the researchers found out that one of the activities is more
efficient in improving the writing skills of a child.
The researchers found out that tracing lines is a more effective activity for improving the
writing skills of a child than cutting shapes, tracing numbers, or vowels. According to Juan
(2020), a child will learn the fundamentals of letter writing by tracing some lines.
According to Jaime White, M.E. (2022), tracing lines is one technique for helping children
prepare to write. It allows young kids to begin to understand the conventions of written
language. As they trace lines for pre-writing practice, they can begin to learn how written
language works. According to Adventures in Learning Children's Center (2022), before they can
learn to write each letter or number correctly, children must first be able to control the pencil
and move it where they desire it to go. Tracing lines is an important step toward teaching
young children the mechanics of written language. Tracing lines for pre-writing exercises can
help them comprehend how written language works.
