Enhancing Business Management Students’ English Vocabulary through Quizlet: Exploring
Classroom Action Research

In recent years, language learning has been revolutionized by technology, with apps like Quizlet
playing a significant role in vocabulary acquisition. However, many students still struggle to
build their English vocabulary and feel confident when speaking. This research seeks to
determine the effectiveness of Quizlet in helping students learn more words, both in and out of
the classroom. It also aims to identify the key factors that contribute to or hinder Quizlet's
effectiveness as a vocabulary learning tool. By addressing these questions, this study endeavors
to shed light on the potential of technology to enhance vocabulary acquisition and boost students'
confidence in using the English language.
Based on the experts, they assume vocabulary learning and how technology is used to help
people learn languages. These studies show that using mobile devices and apps like Quizlet can
make learning more effective and motivate students. The passage mainly focuses on practical
language learning and research findings related to technology's role in this process.
In this study, the researchers used action research to help 33 Business Management students at
Manado State Polytechnic improve their English vocabulary with Quizlet. They followed a
process involving planning, taking action, observing the results, and reflecting on the outcomes
in a repeating cycle. They used tools like observation checklists and tests to gather and analyze
data, aiming to enhance vocabulary through Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL).
The study found that students who used Quizlet, a digital tool for learning vocabulary, improved
their vocabulary skills. In the first round, students had average scores, and some had trouble
using Quizlet. But in the second round, their scores got much better. This means that Quizlet can
be a useful tool for learning new words. However, it works best when the right words are chosen,
students have the right devices and good internet, they are motivated to learn, and teachers keep
an eye on things. Students also liked using Quizlet for learning vocabulary.
