COMMON MISTAKES
Joe and Kyle are sitting next to each other in a university lecture. Find and correct the mistakes in
their dialogue. Be careful – some sentences have more than one mistake. Bonus points if you can
find the slang used.
JOE: Hey, I’m Joe. How are ya?
KYLE: Thanks, fine. I’m Kyle.
JOE: How do you call that?
KYLE: K-Y-L-E.
JOE: Where are you from?
KYLE: I’m from England. I was born and grew up in France.
JOE: Cool. Where do you live now?
KYLE: I’m living in Canada. Tell me about you. Where do you work?
JOE: I’m working as a journalist, but by profession, I’m a lawyer.
KYLE: How many years have you worked as a journalist?
JOE: 35. It has been a great job, but takes a lot of my time. Do you have a family?
KYLE: Yes. I have 1 wife and 5 kids.
JOE: I have to go, but it was great to meet ya.
KYLE: Ok, good luck!

---- 2 days later ----

KYLE: Joe! It is so great to see you again!

JOE: Yes! I’m happy to meet you!
KYLE: Let me introduce you to Mrs. Janet.
JOE: Lovely to see you, Mrs. Janet.
JANET: And you.
KYLE: I have a few more questions for you, Joe. When is your birthdate?
JOE: 19 December. I will be 42.
KYLE: I’ll try to remember that.
JOE: We should get together to teach for the test.
KYLE: That is a great idea! I need to get your email address before you go!
JOE: Sure. It is slowjoe at gmail com.
KYLE: See ya soon.

chance, start again from the first person. Continue for a few rounds.

Kahoot! is a game to practice what you covered in the week. You get points if you answer correctly, and
the number of points depends on how fast you answer. Remember to use a capital letter for your name!
