ASKING AND GIVING OPINION

NEW PHONE

Putri: I want to buy a new phone, but the options out there are overwhelming me.

Any advice?

Edi : You can just buy the one like mine. You don’t need much for a phone, do you?

Putri: Not really. Can I see yours?

Edi : *taking out his phone* Pretty compact even if it’s 5 inches. The interface is

also user friendly. 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory.

Putri: What do you think of it? Is it okay?

Edi : For me, it’s enough, since I only use it for texting, chatting, checking e-mails,

and making calls. I rarely use it for anything other than those.

Putri: I don’t think it would either. When did you buy this phone of yours?

Edi : Around three weeks ago, I guess.

Putri: Then the price wouldn’t be so different now. Do you think the budget fit me?

Edi : I think so. It’s pretty cheap compared to any other brand with the exact same

feature. Trust me, this is a bargain.

Putri: All right. I’ll look for it. Thanks, Edi.

NEW DRESS

Ernest: Glade, that’s a very nice dress. Wow, you look great in it.

Gladys: Why, thanks, Ernest. I just got it on sale.

Ernest: Really? When?

Gladys: Last month. There was a Mango sale at the mall, up to 70%.

Ernest: No way. Why didn’t you tell me?

Gladys: I just knew at the very last moment myself. I got it very, very cheap. What do
you think?

Ernest: It fits you nicely. And I love the color. Suits your skin tone.

Gladys: Duh, I got lucky they had a dress in this size. This is size S and I still had to

tamper it so it fit my body. The peril of being scrawny.

Ernest: Oh, I wish I had a body like yours so I could wear anything I want.

Gladys: Don’t say that.

Banning Smart Phone in School

Situation: Trevor and Matt are discussing issues of banning smartphones in the

school.

Trevor: Have you heard about our school’s plan to ban smartphones in the school?

Matt : Yeah

Trevor: What do you think about it?

Matt : Well, I think that’s fair enough.

Trevor: why do you think so?

Matt : you see… Smartphones have caused so much trouble in our class.

Remember yesterday’s history class? Our teacher got very angry because was

interrupt by a smartphone ringing many times. This may happen again and again.

Trevor: Eh… Yea…

Matt : Another thing is… Smartphones have caused a kind of stupid competition.

Trevor: what do you mean?

Matt : you know, Everyone seems to compete to have the latest model.

Trevor: Yes, I feel that too.

Matt : So it’s a good idea if the school doesn’t allow students to use their

smartphones in the school.
