BUILDING SYSTEMS DESIGN PRELIM EXAMINATION

(CREATING SIMPLE FLOOR PLAN)

In this exam, you will start on doing the basic manipulations, creation of building floor plan. The main
objective is to learn how to create the basic walls (any kind), doors (any kind), windows (any kind),
dimensions, and gridlines with accuracy and speed.

Instructions:
1. Create the wall as shown in the plan provided (20 points)
a. All walls (interior and exteriors) are 100 mm THK x Height = 3.20m
b. Minus 2 points for each incorrectly created walls
Hint: You may create your own walls.
2. Create the Doors and Windows (20 points)
a. (Use the typical height of Doors = 2.10m and a typical height of windows = 1.40m.
Width of each are specified.
b. Minus 2 points for each incorrectly created/placed, wrong dimension of doors and
windows.
Hint: You may create your own doors and windows.
3. Draw the dimensions and the tagging of rooms as shown (use any dimension style, you can
use the default dimension style). (20 points)
a. Minus 2 points for each incorrectly placed dimensions or wrong dimensions, incomplete
dimension and wrong units.
4. Draw the gridlines. 20 points
a. Minus 2 points for every incorrectly created gridlines/ positioning of gridlines.
5. Submit your revit file (.rvt and .bak) (20 points)

Copied file or any form of cheating will have a grade of zero (0).
