Daily, we are reminded of the need to evaluate our activities on earth and checkmate the impact

of our actions on our environment. Increasing global warming, pollution, pandemics and other

unaccounted consequences of our human activities are increasing; as a concerned Scientist, I am

eager to see our society more focused on implementing sustainable strategies to beat down the

adverse effects of our human activities. Hence, I am using this opportunity to apply to this

distinguished program thus environmental Science and Policy in your Prestigious University

(Northeastern University, U.S.A) because I believe that this is a top program that will prepare me

for the realities of our current society while grooming me to be an active contributor to the

possible solutions for our society.

During my Bachelor of Science studies in Natural Resource Management, I was equipped with

rigorous training in geography, Legislations and Policies for Sustainable management of Natural

Resources and rural development at University Of Energy And Natural Resources, I see

Environmental Science and Policy as the best option for my master degree, and because it will

enable me tap into my knowledge in geography to build a rewarding career as an environmental

scientist. I have already gained sound understanding of our physical and natural environmental

systems interact through some course modules in the atmosphere, climatic elements and soil

formation and the ecosystem functions, moreover, these interactions have massive negative

impact in our environment thus Global warming consequently changing the Hydrological cycle.

I believe that all these will come handy when I proceed for this master study. More so my

research work was on Socio –Economic Impact of Charcoal Production during my final year, I

worked on this because Charcoal Production was highly noted and drastically increasing in

Northern Area of Ghana that are known to be highly affected by global worming impacts. I has
strengthened my research, teamwork, and articulation abilities which will play a huge role when

I take on dissertation work on during this master’s program.

In preparation for this program, I have already started training myself to acquire some of the

relevant technical and soft skills to excel in this field. Recently, I enrolled for training on how

I picked Queen’s University as my preferred university because; firstly it is located in Ontario

which is one of the most developed districts in Canada. I believe that learning in such an

environment will have positive effects on my development during my study. Secondly, the

faculty is equipped with world class facilities and its departmental library to each student

learning and research. And being a course with a research component, I am pleased because I

will not struggle for resources.

My passion and commitment to this field of study has inspired me to take important steps that

will redefine my career, and this master’s program is one of them. I hope very much that I am
