1. What are 3 advantages of on-job training?

Well, mainly on-job training has basic principles that make it easier for trainees to understand
and apply what they learn. Also, it provides maximum realism because it teaches job skills right
at the workplace and all that enhances practical knowledge. Also, it offers immediate feedback
and that allows trainees to correct mistakes quickly – and this helps in skill development.

2. What are 3 potential disadvantages of on-job training if done incorrectly?

Well there can be some disadvantages when on-job training is done incorrectly. First,
experienced staff members who are not well-trained as trainers can (and in fact do) make errors
when they explain tasks. Second, the training process can become unorganized and that can
make it hard for trainees to follow. Also, it can (most likely) lead to the development of
inappropriate work attitudes among trainees.

3. List the 4 steps in on-job training.

On-job training has four steps: Preparation -- where all activities needed before training are
done; Presentation -- where the actual training is delivered, Practice and Demonstration --
where trainees practice what they’ve learned; and Coaching -- where informal on-the-job
conversations and demonstrations encourage proper behavior.

4. Explain cross training.

Cross-training is a method where individuals who work in one position learn tasks from
another position. This helps to develop a versatile workforce that is capable to perform various
roles and that really provides flexibility and backup expertise within the organization.

5. Describe job enlargement.

Job enlargement occurs when a trainee learns tasks mainly performed at a higher
organizational level. It basically means that more responsibilities are added to one’s role to
make the job more challenging and diverse.

6. Describe job enrichment.

Job enrichment basically means to add additional tasks from one position at a similar
organizational level to another position. So it has the main purpose to enhance a job and for
that, it makes job more meaningful and engaging for the employee.

7. What are the benefits of job rotation?

Job rotation simply means to temporarily assign individuals to different positions or tasks to
create work variety and backup expertise. Its benefits are that employees get diverse
experiences, and it also prevents boredom, and creates a pool of versatile employees.

8. Describe 2 reasons why we should evaluate training.

Evaluating training is very important. First, it is a great way to assess whether the training
achieved its intended results to make that it’s effective. Second, it identifies areas of strength
and weakness in the training program and that allows for improvements to be made.

9. Provide an example of an objective test.

An example of an objective test is a multiple-choice test where there is only one correct
answer for each question. This type of test provides clear and unambiguous results and yes,
that really makes it easy to assess a trainee’s knowledge.
10. Describe a pre-test post-test evaluation.
A pre-test post-test evaluation means to administer the same test to trainees before the training
(pre-test) and after the training (post-test). So, when you compare the results, you can objectively
measure the effectiveness of the training because of the fact that positive differences in post-test
scores really show improvement in trainees’ knowledge and skills.
