Introduction: Taekwondo is one of the most systematic and scientific traditional martial
arts, that teaches more than physical fighting skills. It is a discipline that shows ways of
enhancing our spirit and life through training our body and mind.
Tenets of Taekwondo
1. Courtesy - to promote the spirit of mutual concessions.
to respect one another.
to encourage the sense of justice.
2. Integrity – In the Taekwondo world, integrity means being able to differ what’s right and
wrong.
3. Perseverance – Perseverance means having patience. A student must have patience in order to
achieve his/her goals
4. Self-Control – This tenant is extremely important inside and outside of the dojang.
Without taekwondo a Taekwondo student is just a street fighter.
5. Indomitable Spirit - A Taekwondo student will at all times be modest and honest. Regardless
of being confronted with injustice, he/she will deal with the consequences.
Warm-up: (3-5 minutes) jog a lap, 20 jumping jacks, 15 sec. high knees, 15 sec. butt kicks,
10 arm circles forward, 10 arm circles back, 10 alternating arm circles (challenge). This can
vary for ability levels per teacher preference.
Exercise – One legged stance with the knee flexed. Step out on the other leg with the knee
flexed and keep balance for 60 seconds.
Cool down: - butterfly/triceps stretch (groin, shoulder, triceps), hurdle (hamstring), leg over
(hip/back), shrimp (hip/back) …hold stretches for at least 10-15 seconds.
