In the diagram below, Q(3 ; 0), R(10 ; 7), S and T(0 ; 4) are the vertices of parallelogram QRST. From T a
straight line is drawn to meet QR at M(5 ; 2). The angles of inclination of TQ and RQ are α and 𝛽
respectively.
1.3 Calculate the length of RQ. Leave your answer in surd form. (2)
1.4 F (𝑘 ; −8) is a point in the Cartesian plane such that T, Q and F are collinear.
[21]
Points P(1;1), Q(0;-2) and R are the vertices of a triangle. The 𝑥 − intercepts of PQ and PR are M and N
respectively. The equations of two of the sides are as follows:
PR: 𝑦 = −𝑥 + 2
QR: 𝑥 + 3𝑦 + 6 = 0
2.4 Calculate the length of PR. Leave your answer in surd form. (2)

3.1 Given: 3 tan 𝛼 + 3 = 8 and sin 𝜃 < 0 determine the following, without the use of a calculator and
with the aid of a diagram:
𝑠𝑖𝑛(360°−𝜃)+𝑐𝑜𝑠 270°
(6)
𝑠𝑖𝑛(90°−𝜃)+𝑡𝑎𝑛(180°+𝜃)+𝑡𝑎𝑛(360°−𝜃)
1 −1
= (4)
(𝑐𝑜𝑠 𝑥+1)(𝑐𝑜𝑠 𝑥−1) 𝑡𝑎𝑛2 𝑥⋅𝑐𝑜𝑠2 𝑥

QUESTION 5
5.1 Using the diagram given below, with tangent AB drawn to circle with centre O. Prove the theorem that
states that the angle between the tangent to a circle and the chord drawn from the point of contact is equal
to the angle in the alternate segment. Hence prove that 𝐶𝐵̂𝐴 = 𝐷 ̂ (5)
Given below is a circle with tangent ACG and cyclic quadrilateral BCDE. AE || CD; CD = BD and BE = ED.
6.1.1 (1)
𝐵̂2 = 𝐶̂3 = 𝑥
6.1.2 (1)
𝐵̂2 = 𝐶̂2 = 𝑥
6.1.3 (1)
𝐶̂2 = 𝐵̂1 = 𝑥
6.1.4 (1)
𝐵̂1 = 𝐷
̂1 + 𝐷
̂2 = 𝑥
6.1.5 (1)
𝐶̂3 = 𝐴̂ = 𝑥
