MECHANICS FOR THE SEARCH FOR


BEST ACTION RESEARCH PROPOSALS

a. Venue, Session Managers, and Action Learning Teams


1. The following sets were created for the parallel presentations: (a) AR and
Innovation in Mathematics Education – Set A; (b) AR and Innovation in Language
Education – Sets B & C; (c) AR and Innovation in Science Education – Set D; (d)
AR and Innovation in Technology Education – Set E.
2. The session managers are as follow: Educational AR and Innovation in
Mathematics Education – Ms. Karen Palabrica; AR and Innovation in Language
Education – Mrs. Mabel D. Buen and Ms. Frances Grace Jetomo; AR and
Innovation in Technology Education - Rogelio Las Pinas Jr.; and (e) AR and
Innovation in Science Technology Education – Mrs. Imelda Dino. The complete
committee members may be found in Annex D.
3. The schedule, venue, and order of presentation for the Action Learning Team can
be found in Annex A.
4. Corporate attire shall be prescribed for all the attendees.

b. Guidelines for Paper Presentation


5. Copies of the PowerPoint presentation must be uploaded to the Google Drive
assigned for each set.
6. PowerPoint presentation is 15 minutes only and will be strictly observed.
7. Each presenter will be given a cue of “5 minutes left”, “2 minutes left”, and “time is
up” through a flash card.
8. Question and answer session is 5 minutes only after every presenter.
9. One best action research proposal shall be selected from each set. The best action
research proposal shall undergo preliminary and final evaluations and must be
uploaded to the assigned Google Drive per set a week before the research
symposium.
10. The preliminary evaluation of the action research proposal shall be conducted
using the rubric for action research proposal which can be found in Annex B.
11. The action research proposals that obtained a rating of at least 80% shall qualify
for the award.
12. Final evaluation shall be done during a research presentation using the criteria
found in Annex C for the selection of the Best Action Research Proposal.

c. Awards and Prizes


13. Each presenter shall be awarded with a mentor and shall be announced by the
moderator from each set.
14. The Best Action Research Proposal that received the highest average ranking from
each set and shall receive Lapis Lazuli, a rare gem stone as symbol of wisdom,
fellowship, and service; and a Certificate of Commendation.
15. The decision of the panel of evaluator, after the review of the tabulators is final.

Meet our Resource Person:

Ms. Frances Grace Jetomo is a language instructor at Sorsogon State University. She has been
teaching for 7 years in SorSU. She graduated cum laude at Bicol University with the degree of Bachelor
of Arts in English in 2011. She finished her Master of Arts in English Education at Bicol University
Graduate School in 2019. She conducted action research at SorSU Laboratory High School in 2020.
She presented the results of her study during the 2nd Research, Education, Business, Science, & Arts
International Conference via Zoom in August 2021, organized by Asian Intellect, in which she bagged
awards such as best presenter and 2nd best paper. Her research article about the same action research
was published by the National Research Council of the Philippines this year. Her research interests
revolve around education, literature, language, and social sciences.

Meet our Resource Person:

Dr. Gerry S. Digo is a licensed professional teacher with a demonstrated work experience as faculty
and administrator in the higher education industry. He earned the degree of Doctor of Education major
in Educational Management from Bicol University in 2010. To date, he is a Professor VI at Sorsogon
State University, Sorsogon City, Philippines, and the designated Head of the Sorsogon State University
Policy Research Center. Prof. Digo was also a CHED scholar in the Philippine Higher Education Career
System – Executive Development Program (PhilHECS-EDP) in 2017 and in the Flagship Course on
Academic Excellence for Middle Managers in 2014. Moreover Prof. Digo is the Top 7 scientist in
Sorsogon State University as declared by the Alper-Doger (AD) scientific index world scientist and
university rankings for 2023. He is also a Career Executive Service Eligible (CESE) and was recognized
as the Top 6 in the March 2018 Career Executive Service Written Examination. Likewise, as a Philippine
Quality Award (PQA) assessor, he is passionate along his goal of enhancing the quality outcomes of
higher educational institutions. His research interest is on school effectiveness and school improvement,
leading teachers, leadership for learning, and leadership for change
