CCTV camera system requirement

The CCTV system should cover the yard Apart from that the all substations building and reefer stack
power socket area should be covered. All the camera should be connected to the monitoring system at
propose operation and control building.

Specification; specification has given instruction on the purpose of the propose CCTV system. According
to that following points are important,

 Quantities to be decided by the supplier based on basic operation of the system to maximum
coverage and the quality of video images to achieve the optimum performance.
 The supplier shall carry out the Supply, Installation, Configuring, Testing and Commissioning of
complete System.
 Point Wiring and Installation of 08 Megapixel/POE/IP Network Cameras and L2-Switches (POE+
or higher support) with all necessary Accessories for Key Area of Sea Side, Prime Mover Area of
Land side, Stage-I area, Gate entrance and office area, Substation buildings,
 All the necessary accessories at control building for Central Video Monitoring.
 UPS System of Backup Period for 30 Minutes.
 Video Backup Storage system for a period of 90 days.
 Possible applications of the proposed CCTV System should include tracking movements/
verification and recognition, through high quality images, of persons and objects. The
recordings of the scene of the Jurisdiction shall be helpful in case of enquiries etc.
 Indoor camera for Substations is not defined.

Design for the entire system should be given by the contractor. Along with that a simulation of the
system and necessity calculation should be given (specification does not ask).

Detection view - The critical viewing area should cover 5% of the monitor

Action view - The critical viewing area should cover about 10% of the monitor

Identification view - The critical viewing area should cover about 25% of the monitor

Example

A 1/3inch camera is viewing an entrance gate to a factory.

The car coming through the gate is the critical view.

1/3 chip; width (c) = 4.8mm height (v) = 3.6mm

distance to gate (d) = 100 ft width of gate (w) = 12 ft

car dimension (front) = 5 ft X 5 ft Focal length f = c * d / w = 4.8 * 100/ 12 = 40mm

scene height h = v * d / f = 3.6 * 100 /40 = 9 ft Scene area = 12 ft X 9 ft = 108 sq. ft

Critical area = 5 ft X 5 ft = 25 sq. ft %

size of car in monitor = 25 * 100 / 108 = 23.1%

The car will cover about 23% of the monitor. This will allow the positive identification of the car coming
through the gate.

The following tests shall be performed for each CCTV camera:

• Verify that the camera produces a clear picture with a resolution no less than that specified;

• Verify that the camera maintains a clear picture and automatically compensates for changing light
conditions including day/night change;

• Verify that cameras have wide dynamic range installed where specified and operate to prevent camera
blinding;

• Verify that cameras provide complete and correct coverage of the area specified;

• Verify that pan, tilt and zoom (PTZ) cameras are fully controllable and function correctly including
camera presets;

• Verify that pan, tilt and zoom (PTZ) cameras are able to perform camera call preset positions by
simulating an event alarm;

• Verify that areas of the camera view may be masked to prevent unwanted alarm activation;

• Verify that cameras have been fitted with anti-tamper devices;

• Simulate a tamper alarm and verify that the correct signal is transmitted to the operator workstation;

• Simulate a video feed fault and verify that the correct signal is transmitted to the operator workstation
