FAITH is Our

Response to God’s
Salvation
• By Faith, we mean that WE ENTRUST ourselves
wholly to God & believe absolutely in what He
says
• It is not simply trust & confidence but an
ACCEPTANCE OF A PERSON & HIS CLAIMS.
• FAITH is an acceptance of Jesus Himself as
being what he claims to be
Characters in OT who expressed FAITH

1. ABEL – by faith, he offered God a sacrifice


greater than Cain’s
2. ENOCH – by faith he was taken away without
dying. He always comes to God & seek Him
The Church teaches us……. (Christian Doctrine)

❑ In the book of Genesis & in the Letter of


Hebrews, we are taught that, indeed,
ABRAHAM is the father of all who believe. By
his faith, he lived as a stranger & pilgrim in
the promise land and offered son Isaac in
sacrifice to Yahweh.
The Church teaches us…….

❑ The OT is very rich in men & women of


having strong faith in God. Yet God had
prepared something better for us & that it is
the grace of believing in his Son Jesus, “the
pioneer & the perfecter of our faith.
(CCC143-147)
The Church teaches us…….

❑ The Church teaches us that Mary perfectly


embodies the obedience of faith. Mary
welcomed & gave her full consent to be the
mother of God, Jesus Christ our Saviour.
❑ All throughout her life & even witnessing
her Son die on the cross, Mary’s faith never
waivered.
The Church teaches us…….

❑ We believe in one God alone.


❑ We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God
❑ We believe in the Holy Spirit
❑ We believe in the Church

❑ Our faith in God leads us TO LIVE IN HOPE.


Hope sustains us during times of trials &
struggles. It makes us aspire for happiness
especially the hope of eternal life
The Church teaches us…….

❑ Our faith in God leads us TO LIVE IN


CHARITY. St. James teaches us that, “Faith
without charity is dead.” We express our
faith to God by loving Him & our neighbor
unreservedly. We love God by worshipping
Him alone.

❑ Our faith in God is sustained in prayer


❑ Our faith in God is nourish & deepened
through constant reading & meditation of
Sacred Scripture.
❑ Our faith in God is nourished in the
Eucharist.
❑ Our faith in God leads us to pray for others.
