CONVEYOR BELT
Conveyor Belt consists of cover rubber, carcass and skim coated rubber.
■ Cover Rubber
Cover rubber which is made mainly with natural rubber or synthetic rubber, has an object
to protect the carcass. It’
s also designed specifically suitable for certain conditions requiring
abrasion resistance, heat resistance, oil resistance, chemical resistance, anti-static and flame
resistance, etc.
■ Carcass
Carcass has an object to keep the tensile strength of the belt and support the transport
materials. The steel cord, nylon, polyester, cotton and special aramid are commonly used as
the carcass.
■ Breaker Fabric
Breaker fabric plays a role to protect the carcass by minimizing the external shocks and
impact when the transport materials are too big or the falling condition is poor or when the
cover rubber requires the tear resistance.
CONSTRUCTION
Steel Cord Conveyor Belt using steel cords as its carcass, barely has the elongation, so it is widely used
in cement plant, power plant, quarry, mine, etc which are carrying heavy materials. Especially, it’
s quite
suitable for long lines requiring a high tension.

PRODUCTION RANGE
■ Low elongation
Low elongation is the most outstanding feature of steel cord conveyor belt. Steel Cord Conveyor Belt
is the most useful where the installation of the conveyor system requires extremely limited take-up
travel and where conventional fabric belt cannot be used. Steel Cord Conveyor Belt requires a take-
up travel of max. 0.25% or less than the fabric conveyor belt.
■ Good troughability
As compared with the fabric belt, the steel cord belt has very even troughing. However, if the
troughing is too deep, it may cause local friction(See the encircled are in Fig. 1(C)), damaging the
belt. The steel cord belt reinforced with two layers of TRC(Transverse Reinforcing Cord) is normally
best suited for use in ordinary cases. TR Beltrack steel cord belt is available in two different types as
mentioned previously so that a type may be selected for the belt width, troughing angle, the material
to be conveyed and so forth, most suitable for the operating conditions.
Fig.1 Troughability
■ Long spans
Steel Cord Conveyor Belt has high tensile strength, long service life, excellent troughability, superior flexing
resistance and good impact resistance.

INTRODUCTION
■P
ipe conveyor belt is an up-to-date and epochmaking transportation system that has solved
many problems such as cargo spills, scattering, leakage and mixing with foreign materials,
limited angle of inclination, etc. which have been encountered by the conventional conveyor
system.
■W
hen loading the materials, pipe conveyor belt remains open with conventional trough and
while transporting materials, it becomes pipe shape containing the materials. It returns in
an open shape slightly ahead of the discharge pulley. Pipe conveyor belt is available for
horizontal turns as well as vertical turns.

INTRODUCTION
Bucket Elevator Conveyor Belt has bolt holes along the whole length of belt to hang buckets, so it can
get easily torn and be pulled down due to the weight of buckets. Therefore, the force working at the
drive pulley when the belt is bent, is different from that of ordinary trough belt, so the multi-layered
polyester (EP) or steel cord which can provide a stable strength are used as the carcass for bucket
elevator conveyor belt.

Chevron Conveyor Belt can convey coal and ore just like other ordinary conveyor belt but it’
s much more
effective to convey sand, powder coal, grain, etc. as well as bags and packages of materials on steep
incline. Materials made of powder or particles can be conveyed at an inclination of 17˚~ 28˚ and bags
and packages can be conveyed at an inclination of 30˚~ 35˚.

lexwall Conveyor Belt is conveyor belts equipped with special waves or cleats called corrugated
sidewall on the belt and it is mainly used for transporting powder or other small materials on
incline in paper manufacturing company and Cement industry etc.
● By attaching corrugation to the sidewall, the sectional area of load increases to increase conveyance
ability and minimize the conveyor width.
● By attaching fin corrugation in the direction of belt width, steep and vertical conveyance is possible
up to 75 degree angle and the equipment area can be minimized.
● Since a high waveform spoke is attached, a skirt board for preventing loss of conveyed materials is
not necessary.
● It’
s easy to change the angle of inclination by use of a special rigid belt and push roller.
● A flat roller can be used to save the equipment cost.

INTRODUCTION
■E
LECSAVE conveyor belt uses a special rubber compound (so-called“Energy Optimized
Compound”) in the cover rubber, which improves the rolling resistance resulting from the belt
deformation caused by rollers during the operation and save the electricity cost in the end.
■E
LECSAVE conveyor belt is reducing the rolling resistance which accounts for 60% of the whole
energy consumption by changing the rubber compound of the cover rubber.
- Theoretical energy saving rate : 15~30%
■T
he cost saving effect is expected just by replacing the existing belt with ELECSAVE conveyor belt
without remodeling or improvement of the existing conveyor system.

INTRODUCTION
It is usually suitable to select Heat Resistant Conveyor Belt when the temperature of transport materials
is 60℃(140℉) or higher. What’ s important to choose Heat Resistance Conveyor Belt is the belt surface
temperature rather than the transport material temperature since the belt surface temperature can be
differ depending on the type, size, shape and volume of the material even though the temperature of
transport material is same. Heat Resistant Conveyor Belt is usually used for cement clinker, sintered
ore, pellet, limestone, chemical fertilizer, etc.

Flame Resistant Conveyor Belt is mainly used in the facilities handling coal, grain or fertilizer plant,
coal mine. It’
s used to prevent the fire from being ignited and lessen the damage and loss caused
to the conveyor belt by the flame coming from the blast furnace.

In general, it is difficult to visually predict the remaining life of a conveyor belt. There are various
factors that determine the lifetime of the belt. Among them, the hardening of carcass or the falling
off of the adhesion in joint area is not easy to judge visually. Therefore, the belt replacement
standard is based on when repair is impossible or when repair cost is high.
● When the cover rubber is worn out and the carcass is exposed over all.
● When the cover rubber and the carcass are severely ageing due to chemicals, oil, heat and others.
● When the cover rubber has many injuries and partial repair parts are widened over all.
● When scratches of the carcass are everywhere and joining repairs have been done in several places.
● When the carcass is fatigued and the belt is cut in several places.
● When the widespread peeling off occurs between rubber and ply or between plies.
● When penetration damages or cracks of belt body occur.

● Belt surface damage is caused by the drop of materials in the loading location.
● The drop height should be as low as possible, the drop direction should be in the direction of travel of
the belt, and the drop speed should be the same as the belt travelling speed.
● It’
s important to crush or remove large lumps which is over permitted limit prior to transport.
● Impact rollers are to be used to cushion the dropping impact of the materials.
● If the skirt board is over-pressed on the belt surface or if the skirt board is too distanced from the belt
surface, it is necessary to adjust the skirt board to suit the transport condition.
● Regular maintenance of scraper and cleaner is required because abnormal abrasion can occur due to
the excessive squeezing of scraper and cleaner.
● Regular maintenance of return rollers is also required since the heaped dust can stop return rollers from
rotating and make them unbalanced, which may cause the abnormal abrasion to the surface of the belt.
● The abrasion to the back of the belt often occurs due to the slip on the pulley surface, so it’s necessary
to observe whether the take-up weight touches the ground, whether the pulley is wet or whether the
dust is attached to it to reduce the friction coefficient.
● Increase the winding angle of the drive pulley to prevent slip.
● If dust sticks and accumulates on the tail pulley, the carrier rollers may not rotate and damage the back
surface.
● In order to prevent the dropping of materials on the tail pulley, check your chute, skirt and scraper all
the time.
