Dance - the movement of the body in a rhythmic way, with music and given space, expressing
an idea or emotion, releasing energy, taking delight in the movement itself.

5 KINDS OF DANCE

Creative Rhythm – product of exploration and improvisation of movements as children learn to move
the parts of their body and to use them as instruments of expression -sometimes called “fundamental
rhythms or natural dances.”

Folk-ethnic Dance - social dance that becomes part of a tradition or custom. express aesthetics
of a particular culture.

Social and ballroom – social gathering with the more formal atmosphere than the simple and
informal parties in which the recreational dances are the usual forms.

Recreational Dance – primarily for social, educational, or health benefits; including social dance
and amateur dance instruction and performance
Creative Dance – contemporary form of dance that combines movement and artistic
expression, without the need for specific training.
