Abstract - Grinding is the most important processes in grinding wheel is corrected. Thus, these operations are for
manufacturing of many precision components thanks to its the truing. There are three types of dressing
unique abilities in making well-qualified parts. The 1) Cylindrical OD dressing
performance of the grinding depends on many factors among 2) Face dressing
which dressing is the most influential one. Dressing forces 3) Radius dressing
may affect directly the geometrical accuracy of the profiles In case of the cylindrical OD dressing, dresser is attached or
made during the grinding operation. In addition, the wheel fixed on preferred location which is perpendicular to the axis

considered as the finishing process in the manufacture of both processes used to maintain the quality and condition of
components with high accuracy and surface quality.. a grinding wheel, but they are different in terms of their
specific purpose and the methods used to accomplish it.
Key Words: Grinding, Dressing, Radius and Face Grinding Dressing refers to the process of reshaping the abrasive

separate tool or a device built into the grinding machine.
Truing is done to correct any run-out or wobbling of the
wheel, and it is done to ensure that the wheel is round,
straight and that its running face is square to the wheel axis.

When the sharpness of the grinding wheel becomes dull

because of glazing and loading, dulled grains and chips are
removed with a proper dressing tool to make sharp cutting
edges and simultaneously, make recesses for chips by
properly extruding to grain cutting edges. Thus these
operation are for dressing.
When the grinding wheel is mounted to the grinding wheel
spindle, the run-out on wheel operation surface is removed,
the wheel during contour grinding is trued or worn
1.1 PROBLEM STATEMENT 2. ASSEMBLY MODEL
During the Face grinding, if the face of the grinding wheel
will have not inclined in, then it will occur poor surface
finish, inaccurate size and loss of Perpendicularity &
Parallelism.

while performing the Face and OD Grinding simultaneously

then there will be chances of getting a inaccurate size of
radius.

1.2 OBJECTIVE
1) Avoid accident during manually dressing.

2) To get the required Radius on edge of the grinding

wheel as required size, e.g. 0.5mm, 1mm, 2mm, 3mm etc.

3) Optimizing the time.

1.3 ADVANTAGES
a) It can be used for any type of grinding wheel. Fig.1 Radius Dresser Fixture Assembly
The Material used for the all components is MS
b) This devise is used to reduce the set-up and dressing
time

c) Simple fast and accurate setting for radius and face

dressing is done

d) Generate the concave and convex radius at the edge of

the cornet

e) Accurate face width and size of radius will achieved

f) Accurate face width and size of radius will achieved

g) Maintain the GD & T parameters

1.4 DISADVANTAGES

a) Radius and face dressing operation simultaneously will

have not perform.

b) Skilled operator required Fig.2 Face Dresser Assembly

The Material used for the all components is MS
c) Currently the Radius and Face Dressing unit is
operated by hand to decorate the wheel.

3. RESULT

During the Radius Dressing we have to given a 1 mm radius

at the edge of the grinding wheel with the help of radius
dresser Fixture and also, we have to dressing the face of the
grinding wheel by the face Dresser Fixture. Before this we
have to dressing the Radius and face of the Wheel by the
Manually, so the result is given below.
