Point at 70KVp and 4.6A intersect is 200mA.
2. To obtain 125 mA half-wave rectified x-ray
Tube current at 100 kVp, what must the filament
Current be?
Answer: 4.6A
THE intersection point of 125 Ma & 100 KVp is
at 4.6 A.
3. How many heat units are produced by the
following radiographic technique: 100kVp,
150mA, 500msec, single phase, 3400rpm-0.6mm
focal spot?
Answer: HU (Heat Unit) = (Tube Voltage) (Tube
Current) (Time)
Single phase
HU = kVp x mA x sec
= (100kVp) (150mA) (0.5sec)
HU = 7500HU or 7500J

4. What is the maximum number of heat units
that the anode can absorb?
Answer: The maximum number of HU the
anode can absorb is 300,000 HU at 0 second.
5. How long would it take the tube to cool down
completely from the maximum heat as
determined in the previous question?
Answer: The time that take to cool from
300,000 HU to 0 HU is 8 minute.
6. If an anode absorbs 200,000 HU, how long will
it take to cool completely?

7. If an anode absorbs 180,000 HU, how long will
it be before another 180,000 HU can be
absorbed?
Answer: First step we should find 180,000 HU
on the chart then if we have capacity for another
180,000 we will check it, but no cause if we would
overheat we will got 360,000 HU so we have to
cool off first! To know how long it can safely
absorb 180,000 HU, we will take the maximum
HU (300,000 HU).
300,000HU – 180,000HU = 120,000HU; so
we have to wait till we cool to 120,000HU.
Therefore, we have time 2min for 180,000HU and
time 3.5min for 120,000HU, then take the time
difference between them: 3.5 – 2 = 1.5min,
So we have to wait 1.5min to absorb another
180,000HU.
